Any Caps nonnies around to clue me in as to whether Jay Beagle is secretly a terrible human being? (Or a terrible hockey player, whatevs, but I'm less concerned about that.) I've been enjoying his pre- and post-game interviews this series.

Favorite sport other than hockey is dirt biking ... Has a dog named Sam and a car named Zipper ... Favorite D.C.-area restaurant is Sweet Green ... Favorite movie is “Zoolander”.

Caps nonnies were pretty salty last year when Oates had him playing on the first line, but Trotz has done it occasionally also, and they seem more resigned yet mystified this year about it. Anyway, I take that as an indication that he's not thought to be a great hockey player.

Jay Beagle's a solid fourth line center who got super lucky this year to the tune of 10 goals. No one (except his coaches) like him on the first line because that's not where his skillset (board work, faceoffs, defensive play) is most helpful. At least Trotz never had him center the first line.

I don't think anyone has an issue with Jay Beagle outside of occasional top 6 usage. He's one of those heart and grit guys. He also has a top secret smoothie recipe and used a flip phone named Flipper until this season.
