This is the eleventh post of Deke Dangle RPF Anon, a community for all your ice hockey anon meme needs.
THE RULES

From: (Anonymous)Of course there's plenty of overused hockey sayings a player might use just because he hears them so often, but if it's not hockey-related, I'd say it's unlikely.

From: (Anonymous)However, hockey does offer the opportunity for amusing situations where a Russian player is taught an English expression and can't stop saying it--being that their language is so rich in proverbs so they might latch onto them in English.
A real life example of this is Evgeny Kuznetsov. As part of his odd-couple buddy relationship with Brooks Orpik, whom he started calling Batya (dad), Brooks taught him "this isn't my first rodeo," which he then apparently started using ALL the time.
Obviously, if you used something like this in fic, people would have to remark on its oddity or ask him where he learned it. But I just found it hilarious and adorable that Kuzy was walking around saying that with frequency.
