#11 - Kopitar Prefers Amps That Go to Eleven

This is the eleventh post of Deke Dangle RPF Anon, a community for all your ice hockey anon meme needs.

THE RULES

So how much do y'all really get a feel for the anons on here? The anon who said they shipped certain redditers with nonnies here got me wondering how/if anyone could really tell anyone apart, because I certainly can't. Except for bzuh? anon, and that's only when they're bzuh?ing.

I sort of have a feel for the nonnies who like the same team that I do on here, but there are like, three of us, so that's probably not much of a feat. The telling them apart only really applies to when they're talking about our shared team, too. Aside from that, I can't really tell people apart.

Its mostly an amorphous mass of nonnies to me, except for some comments from a friend of mine which have been really identifiable.


Which is awkward, cause I hadn't really understood her depth of loathing for all fans of my fave team.

I don't think anybody's hatred has been super identifiable but if you think it's your friend then idk.

Every so often I can tell when a friend left a comment, either by content/style or because they say the same thing in the same way elsewhere. People who ID themselves a lot ("Isles nonny"), yes, both otherwise I can't recognize anybody.

Otoh, I live in constant paranoia of outing myself because of my particular combo of favorite teams and players, and I frequently delete half-written comments that make my stories or in progress fics too identifiable, or repeat stuff I've said somewhere else recently. I worry about that a lot more than picking out other people (which makes me wonder if everyone is that way, so paradoxically I should worry less?)

I'm also really paranoid and don't share as much about the things I like as I have before on anon memes (where I was super recognizable but didn't mind because at worst someone would say "hi" in namespace).

Honestly anon memes are a bit of an odd fit for me, and I wish deeply there was still a big hockey RPF presence on DW (not that I really use it other than a weekly reading list skim these days). I'm intermittently pretty active here and it's weird to not actually build up any capital or real social connections; every interaction is basically starting from scratch. I know that's the appeal for most people, but it's definitely a change for me.

I worry sometimes about getting recognized (rarepair fan/author), and then sometimes I'm all "yeah, I said this in namespace, whatever". It depends a *lot* on the wank and/or embarrassment potential of the thread.

(I find myself doing research a *lot* when I'm writing comments with any actual hockey/personal but easily googleable facts I don't know off the top, because I have seen and participated in way too many meme wanks about people not doing at least minimal research and I never want to be 'that person').

I had a friend tell me she had seen some of my comments on meme, when I hadn't been to meme in months! I swore up and down that it couldn't have been me--because it couldn't have!--but I'm not sure she believed me.

But I'm pretty up front with how much I hate her team to her face, so I'm pretty sure you aren't she. ;) (Especially since I don't hate her or many other friends I have who are fans of the same team. They're just deeply misguided. ;) )

I ship them because they're both (all?) super homers. The redditor is the type who will patiently explain why his team just happens to be right in everything it does all the time always with zero self awareness. So it's the homerism I find distinct, not like, sentence analysis.

Not at all. I've come here off and on for quite a long time, and have neither tried to differentiate nonnies, nor noticed any particular recurring anon personalities. Apart from the obvious (like my nonny buddies, the Biz/Pyatt anons :)

I'm terrible at it, and whenever someone says that they can tell people apart easily I get incredibly paranoid. DON'T ANALYSE ME DAMNIT.
