Re: Things You Wouldn't Admit Unanon

I don't think my goalie cheats, just because we don't ever seem to get any advantage or powerplays that way. Maybe he should start...

I think there are some goalies who are proper cinnamon rolls, but it's definitely not all of them.

but my goalie is an angel and would never /part of the problem

I hate all the tumblrisms that pervade fandom vocabulary.

Seriously, what a shitty ending. Absolutely nothing happened.

I literally shouted "this is not an actual fucking ending" at my computer screen. it was awful.

Well, at least someone(well, multiple people) actually went in in the comments. I think this is the most negative reaction I've seen in AO3 comments outside of You Know Who wank.

Oh my goalie is also a perfect angel and would never. Every other team's goalie, on the other hand...

(Also 90% of the penalties against my team are unfair, except for the fighting majors.)

Re: Pet Peeves and Fandom Confessions

Fuck off, this is the pet peeve thread.

Re: Things You Wouldn't Admit Unanon

From: (Anonymous)
I think some other teams' goalies would never too, tbh. I will remain convinced that Eddie Lack is a perfect angel even if he is making my team lose and draws a penalty somehow, for example. But I know the bad apples when I see them! The correlation between "team I don't like" and "team with goalie that is suspect" is completely coincidental.

I almost wondered at the end why she even bothered to write it (since nothing fucking happened). Did she just want to expand the 'verse by getting Ulf POV?

With some teams it also really depends on which goalie we're talking about. One of them is a perfect angel and the other is definitely not.

My goalie only ever cheats in the name of great justice. AKA keeping Sidney Crosby from scoring against us.

Re: Pet Peeves and Fandom Confessions

When people in fandom go on about how they hate tumblr, all I hear is "I'm not like other girls!"

Re: Fic Discussion - Vinny Gets a Life series

From: (Anonymous)
Now I'm just angry that poor Rousseau still hates himself and has nothing to show for it. Who cares about Ulf?

Re: Things You Wouldn't Admit Unanon

From: (Anonymous)
I agree. The Pens are suspicious at best but Fleury is very sweet.

na

I am definitely like other girls, but tumblr has its own special brand of terribleness. It is known.

Re: Pet Peeves and Fandom Confessions

From: (Anonymous)
Ok, no, seriously. Tumblr and tumblrspeak can be obnoxious as shit, and not because it's a female dominated space.

Re: Things You Wouldn't Admit Unanon

From: (Anonymous)
Of all the adjectives I have to describe Fleury, that's not one of the ones that comes up.

Re: Pet Peeves and Fandom Confessions

From: (Anonymous)
Because Tumblr vs other fannish spaces is super gendered, yo.

I don't hate tumblr, I think my brain just isn't wired for it. I find the whole reblog system very confusing, same with the way likes and reblogs are all together underneath a post and not separated at all. Combine that with just how damn visual and full of gifs it is, and I just nope out of it. I just don't care enough to try and figure it out just to be able to read all the new fannish wank.

Tumblr makes me feel old. I have left the train of Getting the New Shit on the Internet.

Re: Pet Peeves and Fandom Confessions

From: (Anonymous)
I don't see "I'm not like other girls" as being an anti-woman thing? It's more of a "I'm the most special snowflake in the world" kind of thing imo

Re: Fic Discussion - Vinny Gets a Life series

From: (Anonymous)
I was going to catch up on that one, but now I'm thinking I won't bother. I wanted them to get together because a pairing with two older players! And I really liked Rousseau and wanted him to be happy, and I wanted Ulf to find happiness that was not linked to Marc (who I find completely and utterly obnoxious).

Ten times out of ten when I see criticism of the phrase, it's followed by an explanation of internalized sexism, so I guess we have different experiences with the phrase.
