THE RULES

Okay, this Blues fan is chuckling over this guy not knowing Brodeur played for us last year. That's not even an obscure fact or something that happened years ago!

It's perfectly fine if you're a fan who doesn't follow the team closely, but then trying to test someone else's fannishness just makes you look like a jackass. I'm willing to bet he probably couldn't name any Pens players that weren't Crosby or Malkin, either.

I was sitting in the hot tub at the Y hoping it would help my injured foot and this weird guy started hitting on me (WTF, guess he didn't notice the wedding ring, and he also seemed to think I'm much younger than I actually am, which was creepy as well). The general conversation in the hot tub was on hockey and creepy dude started going on about how I probably think Lundqvist is dreamy.

my bff got in a fight a few months ago in a bar with a guy who said a bunch of dumb things but the one i clearly remember is that he was very vehement that the stars are THE WORST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE BY FAR and when she pulled her phone out to show him stats he called her fat and ugly. OH MEN, NEVER CHANGE (please fucking change).

I had a hard time with that one soulbond fic where it seemed like he had basically been sulking forever because he always knew he wouldn't go first in the draft. Like, I'm sure you'd be disappointed to know it as a fact, but his reaction seemed extreme, especially when IRL it was obvious a long time before the draft anyways.

Wasn't this the magical time where somebody wrote a fic that was tagged Connor McDavid/Freedom, where he quits hockey to join One Direction and replace Zayn? aka the fic that I didn't read just because the mental image I have can never match reality?

And when you, like me, actually AREN'T conventionally attractive and are in public with sports (or nerd) gear, men don't even bother to gatekeep/throw down a "fake geek girl" challenge because they see you as invisible and unworthy of their time anyway. It's a... dubious advantage. :-/
