Whereas, I'd like mind control without tentacles.

I'd like more of both, together and separately. What I'm saying is that this development in hockey fandom has been really good for me.

Yeah, I think it's the pairing of tropes that tends to work less well for me. Like, at a certain point, it's too much - tentacles, mind control, oviposition, belly bulging, etc. But I guess that goes together like ABO, knotting, mpreg, etc.

I think it's partly also that there's that one person who requests that combo (and also other things - they don't just request tentacles) in exchanges, and they sign up for a lot of exchanges.

(I also like mind control differently from most of meme, based on past conversations. I want darkness and fighting the mind control).

I am bored with tentacles, don't care about oviposition in a tentacle context, and any belly stuff is at best, boring, and at worst, a major squick. I used to read the tentacle stuff for the mind control, but I've personally had enough.

The 'Come Stitch Me Up' fic was about where I'd like mind control - like some kind of single-minded compulsion. I could def. see darker as well, but yes, again, without tentacles or the suite of things that seem to accompany tentacles. More coercion, more power differential, more financial imbalance, etc. Like, hooker fic with mind control would be my jam.

If I'd written it, it probably would have been angstier, because I'm really into the person knowing something isn't right and trying hard to fight it but having a hard time resisting anyway. But I do really love that fill. A lot.

There are some others that aren't as dark as I'd go, but that hit my id. This old J2 fic from the spn kink meme is slow hypnosis with little input from the person being hypnotized, but it still got me:

For me, the tentacles are a side effect of the mind control (apart from some Welcome To Night Vale fics). For me the part I like about the mind control/brainwashing/strange biology stuff is that the mind control is so alien, it's not realistic at all. Like it can't be something like Stockholm Syndrome which does happen in real life, it has to be something which could never happen in real life otherwise it's a squick for me.

I'm really specific about my mind control kinks.

As would I.
