Random, but does anyone here know if Duggan has a bf/gf? It looks like another woman in the vacation photo she tweeted today and it caught my attention but I don't follow the NWHL enough to know.

I like the concept of #bestkessel shirt, but I'm not sure I like the execution of the design enough to buy it.

Agreed. Why not just use the Rivs' logo? I'm not a Rangers fan and wouldn't necessarily want that association.

It's especially weird because unlike the Beauts and Pride, there isn't just one "local" NHL team to act as the male counterpart. The Rivs play in Brooklyn; if they have to pick one allegiance, it should be to the Isles. And as a Devils fan who picked the Rivs as her NWHL team because of the local connection, I would rather set myself on fire than let anyone assume I'm a Rangers fan. Sorry, Best Kessel.

Right, but the Rangers fan base is the largest, and they have the same colors as the Rangers. Brooklyn doesn't necessarily mean the Isles

The Riveters are kind of weird in that they're designed to coordinate with the Rangers but they've done marketing with the Islanders and are in Brooklyn.

That's fair, but I haven't seen, say, Pride gear that stylistically evoked the Bruins (as opposed to just using the same colors). It makes more sense to me personally to stick with the Riveters logo/design style than something that explicitly evokes a different team that Riveters fans may or may not root for, especially given that there are a LOT of non-local fans of all the NWHL teams. I wouldn't actually want them to evoke the Islanders, either.

... I mean, I thought the whole point was for them to look a little like their local NHL teams. The colors and/or animal theme are a pretty blatant parallel, IMO.

I just looked at the shirt, and it doesn't look extra Rangers-y to me. The shade of blue is wrong and the diagonal team name is more a vintage jersey thing than a Rangers jersey thing, again IMO.

Yeah, they are, which is one reason why I don't root for the Pride or the Riveters.

I take your point about vintage-y jerseys, but the only current jersey like that I can think of off the top of my head is the Rangers one, so the parallel really hit me over the head. And you're right about the shade of blue, but I think that's more a teespring thing as you can choose one of several colors, probably more about what blanks they have available.

I'm fine with the colors thing, e.g. the Pride merch with their own distinctive logo, but the combo of colors AND a style that looks a lot like some current jerseys was offputting to me. I probably wouldn't buy a Pride shirt with a P inside a spoked wheel, either.
