I'm kind of tempted to make a fest focusing on Finnish players. It probably wouldn't be for awhile, given playoffs and real life stuff. I'm not sure what the level of interest would be, though. I'm fond of Finns in general, so I feel like my perspective might be a bit skewed.

I am, but I am also really sad at fests where it's less than a dozen people

Not sure how much interest you'd get but I'd sign up, nonny. I think a fest rather than an exchange would work best. maybe if some people were willing to Finn-pick or advise more generally, that might encourage more people?

I was thinking it would probably be a fairly low pressure, open exchange, since that seems to work best for really niche things like this. Maybe set it up a bit like the kinkmeme fest, with people posting their Finn-focused fics over a period of a few weeks/possibly months? I'm not sure if it would be helpful to let people leave prompts that other could work from if they wanted, given that it'll probably be fairly small-scale.

If I get around to doing it, I may create a Tumblr for advertisement/interaction. And possibly a DW? I'm not sure what's best in terms of generating interest/conversation, since the last time I modded anything was back in the LJ heyday, and the fandom landscape has changed a lot since then.

I'd love it but IMO this is a fairly niche interest and it would be small, like the other anon said. I would keep my eyes peeled for any Barkov bc he's my favorite👀

Is it offensive to say you might get more participation with a Nordic fest since that covers more players, maybe I'm just thinking of a transnational Swed/Finn pairing I personally want fic for.

I'd be down with a fest focusing on Nordic players instead, especially if it would drum up more interest! Get the Swedes and Danes and Mats Zuccarello some action, too. ;)

DA Everything I usually write is about Finns and Swedes but I might feel obliged to write some Danes for a fest like that out of national pride, haha.

Obviously this means that he needs to bang his way through all the other nationalities in the NHL. For national pride, or something.

Wouldn't Andreas Martinsen count too?

OP I didn't realize there was another Norwegian player in the league (sorry to any Avs fans on meme), but he'd totally count, too!

SA I'd also be open to including players in other leagues (KHL, SHL, AHL, NCAA, etc) if people were interested in that, too.

Also this led me to google Mats and Andreas for #possibilities and of course there was this story in December about how they ALMOST met on the ice, but then Andreas was scratched, tragic. :( But! Mats visited him in the locker room to congratulate him on playing in the NHL, aww. :)

It's a nice photo, and a good thing for Mats to do.

The height difference is most obvious.

I was literally just about to prompt something on the sin bin of Any Finnish Player/Any Finnish Player after reading that article on Salomaki and Donskoi but at the same time I would be happy with any Finnish player.

So in other words, I am in favour of this.
