Oh. Oh no. :( I mean, this is brilliant. The setup is perfect for creating context for the song, which is really well-chosen. But now I'm always going to associate every single version of this song with these two. If Marleau does accept a trade to another team, I'm sure the original Adele version will be playing in my head in time with my weeping the first time they play each other.

You're right, that was great. It doesn't match up perfectly, but if you time it right, it's SO GOOD. The hug at "someone I used to love", the handshake line/Saddest captain at "sad of getting old and restless", "nobody told me that you'd be here" at Jumbo's bleeding post-fight face, the montage of beautiful memories over the softly repeated "when we were young"...this makes me so sad. I need to go rewatch Holiday Sweater to cheer myself up.

Fuck, but I want San Jose to do it this year. This of course means they likely won't because I seem to be bad luck, but man am I rooting for Thornton and Marleau to get that Cup and get it together.

There's a frame in there (@ 3:56) with their jerseys reading "I'm with -->" and "Gutless". Does anyone know - is that real? Was that them or was it a fan? I've been unsuccessful in Googling but that was a gut punch moment for me.

I have a thing about teammates sticking up for each other, especially if I can view it in a shippy context.

It never fails to make me sad that dudes who are younger than I am are considered old in hockey years. I hope Jagr just has his consciousness transferred to an android body in a decade or so and keeps playing forever.
