Well, ugh. Ted Lindsay finalists are Benn, Holtby, and Kane.

I've never wanted Jamie Benn to win anything so badly, lol. I really hope they vote for him because they think he's underappreciated and Kane has enough recognition already.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all the actual voting was done at the end of the regular season, right? They're just releasing the results bit by bit.

Oh yeah, I think that's true, too. I just noticed the wrong verb tense in my comment, sorry. :x

I don't actively dislike Benn as a choice, so I guess that's who I'll root for. Even though I know it'll be Kane.

So much negativity in this fandom is from people borrowing trouble.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd be negative about things that have already occurred, but it's too exhausting.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Warranted negativity. Given that the Ted Lindsay is voted on by the players, I don't think they would have voted for him as a second or third guy.

I think you underestimate how much other players love Benn.

+1

At some point, he's going to run out of 'he's underrated' cred with other players, but that's the general consensus.

Well, that's why he's in the mix.

lmao I love how it became all about Jamie Benn versus the asshole. I guess Holtby just disappeared.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like for Holtby to get it. People are probably gravitating towards Benn because they're assuming that Holtby will get the Vezina, though.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Either Benn or Holtby would be fine with me. It just struck me as hilarious that the immediate response was 'welp, guess I want Benn"

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
lol, I was the first comment about wanting Benn, and it was mostly because I think Holtby will get the Vezina. Caps are my #1 team, but I like the Stars, too, and I like if the awards go to as many players as possible, lol.

Haha, I was just thinking the same. I'm willing to root for Holtby among that field, although I'd like him to have one more bad game in the near term.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Lately it seems his defensemen are trying their hardest to make all his games bad. LOL

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? Holtby is by far the least asshole-ish of those choices.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
On a *personal* level, I want Holtby. I'm *hoping* for Benn, on the grounds that I don't see back-to-back Lindsay wins for goalies and although I think he's an asshole he hasn't reached Kane status for me.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Bishop finished with a save% four percentage points higher than Holtby and only five fewer games. If Holtby wins, it'll be for wins, which is a team stat and a stupid basis on which to award individual trophies.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Holtby's splits are meh enough for me to want to sit back a few years and watch him regress like Quick did post-2012. It's a pattern for goalies!!! It's just how life goes. Price didn't see a sudden spike in sv% from year to year and I wish more people would realize that spikes like those are an abnormality and not an indicator of long-term success.

Of course, I am more than a little bit miffed that Schneider didn't get nominated for the Vezina, so I am perhaps not the best person to discuss this. The winner should absolutely be Bishop, though, and to be perfectly honest, Erik Karlsson should be the one nominated for this award.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
DA I agree that players are going to have anomalous years and peaks and then regress, but I'm not sure what spike you're talking about? Holtby's save % has been in the .920 - .922 range for every season he's been in the NHL except his first (when he only played 14 games, so small sample size, etc) and also a dip in 2013-2014 (which can probably be at least partially attributed to Adam Oates and his terrible coaching). Even when he was in the WHL/AHL/ECHL, he had mostly decent numbers. And with his 2006 - 2007 season in the WHL, the Blades being hot garbage and him being young and still developing were definite contributors to his numbers.

(I'm okay with either Bishop or Holtby getting the Vezina--just not sure if I misread what you were saying.)

I'm surprised at the Holtby pick, but there are probably 4 or 5 players you could argue for second place.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-06 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Who would you say that is?

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 12:03 am (UTC)(link)

Benn, Crosby, Karlsson, Bishop, and then Holtby/Thornton. I can see the arguments for all of those guys, but I don't think you can say any of them had the best season.
