#23 — Brown Goes Down

THE RULES

I'm so bothered that this is a thing people do. Like yes kudos are life-affirming. But what is your life if you're scamming for them.

Unless someone says they had already seen this fic dated May 1 last week, I think she probably just did it the one time, but she waited until authors were revealed before doing it. And if so, that's not scamming.

I'm curious why it wouldn't be scamming if she's only done it once. She's still artificially adjusting the existing algorithm to change where her story shows up to ensure mad page views. And probably artificial pay views since I imagine she gets clicks from people expecting something new and different.

Ugh. What are words. *max page views. and page views not pay views. Nobody's getting paid here.

Because fics in revealed collections show up when they were first posted, which might be several pages back. It's not scamming to adjust the date once to make your fic show up as the date it was revealed, but it is shady to keep doing it.

Yeah, I changed mine the day the collection opened, because people who just read through the tag and didn't actually go to the collection would have missed my story when it was dated a week earlier. But to keep doing it is shady, especially for less than 2,000 words of fluff (it seems more understandable for a long story that took a lot of work).
