Speaking of teams stealing colors, whose bright idea was it to allow two teams in the same league with the word "Blue" in their name? Just, why?

I like the history behind both names and that they're pretty unique for sports teams, so I'm okay with it.

It took me months to determine that "Blues" wasn't ever a nickname for the Blue Jackets. Actually, it took me a month or so to determine they were two different teams in the first place.

sa

That said, individually, they are pretty cool names.

AYRT

Well, I'm a Blues fan, so I never had trouble distinguishing, haha. But I can see how it would be confusing for someone who was just starting to follow the league. Especially if you weren't really following either team.

I think the Blue Jackets would have been better off if they'd made the Civil War connection more explicitly clear from the get go, but yes, I like local names in general like the Ravens, the Blues, the Pelicans, the Bills, etc.

Confused nonnie above spent quite a long time picturing a blue jacket as an analogue to a yellow jacket - ie, some kind of horrifying wasp, but with blue stripes instead of yellow.

At this point I think it's clear that I am just easily confused. :P

Their mascot probably doesn't help with that.

na

Yeah, the first time I heard of the St. Louis Blues and saw their jersey+logo, I thought it was the coolest thing. Way better than a random animal (like my team).

Oh my god, I just blanked so hard on the 2nd name that I had to google. I can't believe I forgot the blue jackets existed for a second there...
