As much as I love comments and messages about my fic, people begging for sequels really grind my gears. I get that it's more or less a compliment that people want to see more, but I picked a beginning and end on purpose. I wish there was a polite way to say that it's never happening and to stop asking.

What's impolite about saying it's never happening? I do that all that time. I mean, I usually phrase it as "I don't have plans to write a sequel to this." I might add a second sentence like "I feel like accomplished what I wanted to with this piece." or "Other stories/characters have my imagination now." But I have never meant to be rude, and so far as I know, no one has taken it that way.

Yeah I've been on the other side getting a response like that from authors and its never bothered me.

I just say that I'm not planning on one/don't think it will happen, but it's nice to know that a reader would like to spend more time in x universe.

I wince every time I see one of those comments. Even if a sequel to a fic I loved is all I want out of the world, I feel like begging an author for one is more often than not going to annoy them at best and possibly even ruin any chance of a sequel happening.

What I hate even more than that is when people ask for a sequel, and then don't leave any feedback for it.
