All or almost all the defensive reactions are from Stars fans? Like, how dare you respond to us being dismissive of your team, we're heartbroken! Most of the neutral fans have been commiserating about how they understand where the OP's coming from.

Kind of off-topic, but are the AHL playoffs that highly valued? If it were me, I'd pull everyone I had to out of the AHL to give my team a better shot in the NHL playoffs, though I suppose that also depends on each team's chances in their respective playoffs race.

I... count, at most, four identified Stars fans in this thread. Of course, I may be posting a lot more than I think. Only one of the "we're heartbroken" fans have identified as a Stars fan, and there wasn't even that much vitriol?

They're limited on the number of non-emergency call ups they can have while their AHL team is still playing. And it's kind of considered a dick move.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

Ah, makes sense. I kind of figured on it being considered a dick move, but that alone probably wouldn't stop most teams, lol.

I wish this fic had Sid coming to terms with this powers on his own or with Geno's help as some sort of journey instead of having quirky matchmaker Ovi come marching in to move things along. I'm just so over incredibly overbearing friends meddling in other people's romantic lives trope.

I didn't count much vitriol, either, but a lot of dismissiveness - which was OP's original complaint.

On a *personal* level, I want Holtby. I'm *hoping* for Benn, on the grounds that I don't see back-to-back Lindsay wins for goalies and although I think he's an asshole he hasn't reached Kane status for me.

Re: Fic Discussion - A place to lay your head

This is what I was trying to say elsewhere, in the discussion about longfic. It definitely wasn't an idea that supported being so long, and I think you tapped out where I started skimming. The beginning was so much filler (like the random discussion about who's picking up the lunch check?) while I kept wondering why on earth they were on the trip at all (and frankly, that their parents didn't seem to care -- they're 19!) I see from the thread that there was more going on with Connor, but I wasn't picking that up from the first 10k of them not talking.

I'm someone who really loves roadtrips, but they are boring as hell to read about if your narrative is just where they stopped for breakfast, which hotel room they hooked up in, and geographical details that seem wrong to me.

The Stars hype train has been hilarious. Every summer they win the Cup in the offseason. Well I guess this season they had to share the Offseason Cup with the Blue Jackets. How does that work, do they just trade off between the different players? Saad passes it over to Sharp, like old times?

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

From: (Anonymous)
That's not how it works. It's four call ups post-deadline during the NHL regular season; they can call up whoever they hell they want during during the postseason regardless of whether or not the AHL team is still playing.

It is a dick move, though. Sestito was reportedly pissed that he got called up from the Baby Pens. Mostly because of his blood feud with O'Brien but still. The Baby Pens were pretty much pillaged during the regular season and their best defenseman is being held hostage in Pittsburgh, you don't want to decimate them any more.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

From: (Anonymous)
You want the prospects to get playing time and if they're even not ready to crack the line up, AHL playoffs experience is still valuable.

DA I was reminded of a fandom rp me and a friend did once where we googled a route and what we would see and all that. It was fun to write, but I can't imagine it would be an interesting read for anyone else.

He wasn't reportedly "pissed," he said he had never been that happy before to be sent back down (and why wouldn't he be, he knew he wasn't going to get to play with the Pens, and WBS is the team he feels invested in). Calling up a player like Sestito is hardly decimating a team, and the eternally-injured Pens have had no problem decimating WBS in past seasons and postseasons. It can piss off fans who care equally or more about the minor league team, but it's a normal thing.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

Sestito's stat line from last night was the most Sestito thing ever.

1 goal (game tying it should be noted) 1 elbowing minor, 1 fighting major, 2 misconducts, 2 game misconducts. 47 PIMs

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

Who is the hostage in Pittsburgh? This sounds like an exciting AU.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

From: (Anonymous)
He got a misconduct while celebrating his goal and doing the Max Talbot shush at the Hershey bench, then somehow got another misconduct in the hallway serving his first misconduct.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

I assume they're talking about Pouliot, who has been up for a while but barely playing.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

Pouliot.

And I was legitimately surprised to learn you can get more than one misconduct in the same game.

Re: NHL Awards - Ted Lindsay

Then, going back to the original point, why wouldn't the Kings gut the Reign if they're both in the playoffs but the Reign has some assets that could help the Kings out? Assuming the defense problem originally attributed to the Kings is correct, that is. /not a Kings fan, just curious

Did you know one guy once got four misconducts in the same game, three of them at the exact same time?

http://onthisdayinsports.blogspot.com/2013/03/march-11-1979-randy-holt-of-la-kings-is.html

I was curious as to who was the record-holder for most PIMs in one game, and it turns out Sestito didn't even get close.

I stopped for the same reason. Completely ruined the emotional tension for me.

This docu was shot in March, apparently, and she already looked pretty far along, so if the Pens Do The Thing he might actually get to put his baby in The Thing.

Slava Malamud also said that Geno wouldn't have gone to Worlds if the Pens had lost also, which to me means birth time might actually be soon omg.
