I'm quite fond of Cam Atkinson's princess curls.

Re: Fandom Venting

This is the only thing that's an upside from the league not having enough uniform diversity

So can a guy still play while he's carrying eggs?

Man, that was an awful play. I'm still mad about that. Not as mad as I am about other things Byfuglien as done, but still, mad.

I don't understand. What's happening the other 49 minutes the clock is running?

Re: NHL Awards - Masterton nominees

I would have been fine with Darling getting it, but Dubnyk getting it for... getting traded from a terrible team to an okay team and getting a hot hand? That does not impress me.

East coast nonnie has not heard of this douchebaggery. I thought he was pretty well liked in Dallas. What's the sstory?

They love him in Dallas. Everywhere else he's a raging pest.

To the SJ nonnies out there:

Is there anyone on the team that Martin Jones is particularly close with? I was just thinking about him the other day and was hoping he found a new Toffoli/Pearson

Yeah, me too. I mean, I'm disappointed that 3 games is a pleasant surprise, but it's still better than I expected.

DA He's one of those players that you like if he plays for your team, but you haaaaaate them when they play for someone else. So, a really good pest.

I assumed this was a non-Dallas nonny. Because we all love him in Dallas.

The article also lists counts of 13 minutes, so clearly the real range is 10-15 minutes / 60 minute game.

Yeah, I was very "NO WHY, PLEASE BE OKAY" as the injuries were happening, but in hindsight it's kind of like, well, maybe it's not all terrible? Not that I'd ever want any of the guys to be hurt, but if things work out okay in the end, yay? I'm just going to keep believing the narrative and that it's some weird advantage toward overcoming adversity, lol.

And only sort of related, but I'm so glad Bergy finally got surgery on his shoulder last summer since a) it had to have been bothering him for awhile and b) he's been fantastic since he got back. I actually thought he was good in the playoffs last year, too, and that he gets some undeserved flak in general, but after seeing his regular season play, I have to wonder if his shoulder wasn't holding him back. Either way, Bergy doing well makes me really happy.

I feel you there, too. The cautious optimism is so much easier on non-game days.

No, he's loved in Dallas. But I understand why fans of Central teams in particular hate him.

So this is on-ice douchebaggery? That makes more sense. I thought surely if he was, say, a sexual harassing type, I'd have heard of it by now.

Re: Game Day Thread - May 1, 2016

Off the ice he's a doll. Sharp recently gave an interview saying that coming from a division rival he was prepared to hate Roussel but couldn't because he is such a great guy.

DA

I'm a fan of another Central team and I hate Roussel on the ice, but I've never really heard anything bad about him off of it. He strikes me as one of those guys who's an excellent pest and kind of a dick on-ice, but a decent person off of it. (Standard disclaimer that I don't know him personally, so he could be an all around douche, but I've never heard anything to indicate that he is.)

Re: Game Day Thread - May 1, 2016

His on ice behaviour is mostly being as annoying as possibl. He's a pest, but I don't think he's ever done anything dirty. I think they're very similar with Gallagher, always playing and living the game 110% and creating havoc at the opponent's goal, but there's less scoring and smirking with Roussel.

Off ice he's charming, sunny, extremely nice and always polite and considerate towards the fans.

Re: Game Day Thread - May 1, 2016

With Roussel, there's more running his mouth and insulting your fashion sense, your pet, a deluge of things in French, dishonor upon your cow, etc.

He's made some seriously stupid and bad moves (he deserved that suspension, lbr) but he's learned to walk the right side of playing on that edge.

Re: What's Up With Your Team? - Playoffs Round 2

This got so long, whoops.

The Bergy hate I see has a lot to do with him not panning out exactly as expected/his upside not being fully realized, which is a weird grudge to hold.

There are a lot of factors that go into that. Look at his development - in his early years he was on a stinker Blues team that only barely made it to the playoffs when he was a rookie and didn't manage to return for two years after that. Him and his contemporaries also played a very different game than what the Hitch system demands. He's the one that managed to stick and I guess there's a lot of mixed feelings about that group. Most fans seemed to have written them off entirely, even Oshie sucks to them haha. That he has adjusted as he has, become a solid two-way guy for us isn't a bad thing at all.

He has cold streaks at times and his contract stings a bit then, but he's been one of the few Blues players who has consistently shown he has a playoff gear. So. I just enjoy him this time of year.

It also seems only people like Tank and Schwartzy get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to injuries affecting their play. They need to 'prove themselves' before they can be viewed fairly. it sucks.

Also I know Vova/Vladi doesn't like being called Tank but that just slipped out.

There are so many sources of untapped kink and idfic in written SF. Le Guin's world in Left Hand of Darkness, with the people going becoming fertile and acquiring a gender once a month, is another.
