Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
Tons of people update the date on their fic so that it's on the hockey tag. Do you really think 80% of the fics in the collection were posted the day it opened?

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
This seems very grudge-holding.

Also AO3's dating system is fucked up. New stuff that gets posted ends up below stuff that was posted hours ago. (I sent them a bug report a while back and the response I got was basically "Yeah we know *shrug emoji*.") So maybe scale back on the "desperate."

Well, even though they made it interesting, thank god that is over...hopefully as the series goes on, the lucky bounces are more in our favor

Meme has long since griped not only about downjune's characterization faults, but her pacing issues and her Brandon Sutter obsession as well.

I return to say I'm still feeling pretty good about Murray!

About everyone else, though... /o\

Re: Fic Discussion

The fact that you bring all these topics up in a thread not about either pacing or Brand Sutter seems to support the grudge hypothesis.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
Everyone updates the date on collection fics to the date it opens. That's fine and normal. Not everyone does it twice so they can get on the first page. That's unfair to every other author. And yes it smacks of hit count desperation.

Haven't posted enough on AO3 to confirm, but I think that happens because fic ends up in order of when the original document/draft is created, not when it's published.

Re: Game Day Thread 2 May 2016

From: (Anonymous)
Well, they did really well in the first two games and weren't getting the bounces, so maybe this game was payback for that? I hope they can figure it out for game four while Murray continues to be a boss.

Re: Game Day Thread 2 May 2016

From: (Anonymous)
Yeah, there seems like a certain amount of cosmic justice there for the effort/bounces ratio in game one, but I'm not comfortable with it.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
NA yes, that's correct. For instance, if the draft was created at 8AM and you move the date up, everything posted after 8AM on that day is still going to show up after it, even if you published the draft at 9PM that evening.

Even though the Caps lost I'm feeling weirdly positive now? lol, at least that last goal was a high note to end a loss on? Is this my desperation already in full effect? Who knows.

Re: Game Day Thread 2 May 2016

I'm not too worried about everyone else, given how the last couple of games have gone, I think this'll be an anomaly. I'm more worried about Letang missing time for the suspension he absolutely deserves to get.

I don't create drafts until I'm ready to post, and I still end up with fic down below other people's fic that was already in the tag.

The AO3 person said it was an indexing issue, I think.

Yeah. :\

I don't think he will get one tbh.

I'd be extremely surprised if he didn't get at least one.

You guys played really well, bounces haven't been going your way.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
Can you read? I'm not the anon who said she changes her dates. I'm pointing these things out to show that meme has ragged on her before so it's not grudgey of one single person to continue to judge authors lots of people on meme have judged before.

Re: Game Day Thread 2 May 2016

From: (Anonymous)
The Caps looked like the better team in the 3rd, they just need to translate that into goals :/ I'm cautiously optimistic but I also wouldn't be surprised if this series ends up 4-1. We'll see~

Re: Game Day Thread 2 May 2016

From: (Anonymous)
This really was a very interesting thing. On the one hand, yes the Caps played great which is encouraging for them. On the other hand, the Pens didn't play their best and still fought out the win, which is great news for them as well

I'll agree it's unfair to other authors if she really did update twice to get herself out of that huge list of anonymous fics that show up when collections go live. To me though, that seems less like desperation and more like ego. "I think my fic is better than these other fics" kind of deal.

Or for that matter bringing a criticism to a meme where people have been in agreement about the side eye worthiness of that particular author.

I'd be surprised if he didn't get one, but I'd be surprised if it were more than one. The hit itself is not quite as bad as the Orpik hit, and Johansson came back and continued to play (and another anon mentioned that Johansson did retaliate a bit, not sure how much that does or doesn't factor in). But Letang does have previous history of supplementary discipline (a suspension and a fine).
