Re: Things You Wouldn't Admit Unanon

I don't *actually* wish that hockey had robust lookalike porn tumblrs the way certain other fandoms have (and maybe still do?) but. Sometimes...

I feel like I've come across one, but I don't remember how good it was lol

At a minimum, I would require an elaborate fake-naming system. Or pig Latin. Something. Let's make word of mouth do its work like the good ol' days when lj search was terrible.

I'm having deja vu while reading this comment about original wank which is... slightly ironic

(or maybe it's not ironic, im drunk and idek even know what that word means thanks to alanis morissette)

(i wonder what drunk deja vu means - like was I drunk last time this happened too? or is it possible to have drunk deja vu about a sober moment?)

as a ~neutral observer I have no idea now why I thought this series would be "fun" before it started. Every game is like getting oral surgery and yet I can't turn it off...

Still hate both team. Malkin is still a sneaky dirty player.

I'm still hanging on to enthusiasm by my fingertips, but I think you have to be a hardcore fan of one of the western teams to really find joy in it.

His quote when he last scored: "Ville Nieminen once told me, 'If you want pizza, you go to Pizza Hut. If you want to score goals, you go to the net.'"

This is the first game I've watched of this series, so that might have something to do with it, but I'm enjoying it. I feel a lot less tense than when I was watching my own team.

I mean, I'm never going to get tired of it, either, just for the sheer novelty of it. (Also Dales <3)

We thought this series would be less pure hate.

I really don't know why anyone would think that. I guess if you're in the west and just don't pay attention.

As a neutral observer, I was expecting this level of bad blood, honestly. The only series I could think of that had the possibility to be worse would've been Pens/Flyers.

ayrt
I mean some of it is good hockey, but I find the way both teams are playing to be super frustrating. The beginning of the Detroit/Tampa series was chippy as hell but I still liked watching it because it didn't seem like they were trying to win by taking out everybody on the other team.

Re: Game Day Thread: May 4, 2016

The Pens-Flyers games this year were pretty bloodless, actually.

Re: Game Day Thread: May 4, 2016

From: (Anonymous)
I kind of expected it but I thought they were going to try to out play (rather than out hit) each other more than they are. I've seen other series this playoffs where it seems like the hockey being played is at a higher level, tbh. I just thought they would both be better and I'm a little disappointed.

Re: Game Day Thread: May 4, 2016

The Caps came out hitting everything that moved in the first couple of games, legal or not, so I think it was pretty much bound to end up this way.

All I can say is this series has lived down to all my expectations.

I expect that would've changed in the playoffs, though.

I wish I could turn back time and readjust my expectations to match yours, I would have wasted a lot less time watching these dumbass games.
