If we have to listen to all this horse talk, the least they could do is flash pictures of various players riding horses while wearing nothing but chaps and a cowboy hat.

Yeah, three months ago. It's almost like we get new people here!

Anyway, I don't have anything to add to the old thread, but OP, it's here if you want to peruse.

One of the Blues/Stars announcers just said "huge wood"
That is all.

Re: Ask Meme

No need to be a dick about it.

I just really wonder how many people actually care about the Kentucky Derby. Seriously. Before I got commercials all through hockey playoffs last year, I'd heard of the Kentucky Derby, but I didn't even know the Triple Crown existed.

The favorite to win is named after Gustav Nyquist! Apparently the owner is a big Red Wings fan.

I *am* Canadian and I don't get the appeal.

Let's not turn into yet another sports forum that punishes new people for not immediately knowing everything, anon. There's enough of those in the world you can go to if you want to hang out with a bunch of sports elitist dickwads.

I have used a mini version of hair clippers (with the guard) to kind of thin mine. It works but there's this one moment of abject panic that you might shave your eyebrows off. Threading is less stress.

A heck of a lot of people care about the Kentucky Derby, way more than care about the Stanley Cup in the US.

pshhhhhh it's a great system

/ bitter Philadelphia Eagles fan (where the coach-as-GM setup did not work out at all)

I have friends who went to Belmont last year to watch whatever that horse was win the Triple Crown but they mostly seemed into it for the drinking in fancy hats aspect, tbh. I just can't get excited about the athletic accomplishments of a horse. They hardly ever talk about the jockeys and the race is hyped up for 2+ hours beforehand and then over in like a minute.

na
threading is usually way cheaper than waxing, so that's a good incentive too!

I think it's mostly a betting thing

Re: Fandom Goggles

when is this from?

Re: Game Day Thread May 5, 2016

From: (Anonymous)
More than care about hockey, in the US anyway.

Re: Game Day Thread May 5, 2016

That makes a lot more sense to me than people actually giving a shit about athletic horses.

na

Threading is great and cheap but it's PAINFUL. At least I think it hurts worse than waxing. But it's quicker and way easier in the long run. Idk, I thread mine but every time I have to go do it my soul curls up and dies a little.

It probably helps that it's not much of a time commitment. It's like watching the ball drop on New Year's - doesn't take long, and then you can say you did it.

YAY Dallas...I was already mentally preparing myself for a OT heartbreaker, but thank you for proving me wrong

What a game by Kari!!!

Re: Fandom Goggles

na sort of vaguely thought this involved weaving thread through your eyebrow and leaving it that way, which sounds potentially fun. Maybe with sparkly thread? I have now looked it up and am going D:

thank christ tbh if both of my playoff picks ended up 3-1 in the series via OT loss it would be time for me to give up and take to the sea...

"Corey Perry will captain Canada at #IIHFWorlds; Duchene and O'Reilly to serve as alternates."

Don't Duchene and ROR have bad blood since ROR left the Avs? or did I confuse them with someone else?

If I'm remembering correctly, this will make for a awkward locker room.

Re: Fandom Goggles

From: (Anonymous)
is it worse than plucking? that's what I do most of the time at home and I think I've mostly adapted to that particular agony?? but maybe threading is worse

Re: Fandom Goggles

I am weirdly fascinated with Corey Perry. It probably helps that I'm an eastern conference nonnie. Every just agrees that he's so weird, though, and I have a soft spot for weirdos.
