Saaaame. I'm trying to motivate myself to write like putting something in the tag myself would be some kind of solution to the draught, lol. I always end up being too self-conscious though. :(

Plus, this is making me want to find a secondary fandom, but nothing is really grabbing me.

Same here. I keep poking at AO3 and being disappointed, because not only is there nothing to read in this fandom, there's nothing to read in any other fandoms either. I don't care about the MCU, all the Star Wars stuff is boring as fuck, and I don't even know what the other decently active fandoms even are right now.

I was reading old Bat family fic last night out of nothing else to do. I don't even read comics.

I used to read fic for the MCU but I've grown tired of it. The one thing that can be said for that fandom is that there's a lot of fic for it though, lol.

I was rereading old Harry Potter fics of all things the other day! The desperation was real.

MCU fandom makes me wish AO3 had a search system like reddit's where I could see the most-kudos'd fics posted in the last 30 days or last week or something. There's way too many posted to the tag each day and unlike hockey, I can't pretty much tell from the summary if it's a good or a bad fic. And to add to that that I get super annoyed when my fave character is painted in a negative light, which doesn't help.

I keep reading for other fandoms too. Zootopia, Harry Potter, The Eagle, Pacific Rim xeno, whatever gets recced on FFA where I read half of the first chapter and then forget I intended to read the rest (which is usually how it goes).

I've been out of Teen Wolf for years and I've been reading stuff in that fandom by kudos, just for *anything* to read.

Didn't someone talk here a while back about a "finish the thing!" fest, or something like that? Kind of an excuse for people to write/finish things that they needed a push on? I can't remember any of the details, though. But maybe something like that would help the fic problem.

I was never in Teen Wolf, though I've read a few things. I've reread some SPN though.

I'm not sure if I'm just done with the fic part of this fandom (though I remain enthusiastic about the sport), the fic part of any fandom, or just not hitting anything to feed the id/soul. But I'm definitely a fandom grazer right now.

Yeah, I dipped a toe into Hamilton fandom briefly then recoiled because people are literally calling other people the KKK. I wish baseball rpf were still more of a thing. I am excited about the crossover stuff for mmrares - the Crosby/Rodgers pairing looks tempting.

Oh that's disappointing about Hamilton. I had that in my back pocket for when I eventually bail out of this fandom.

People must be having fun in fandom SOMEWHERE. Geeks have totally taken over movies and tv, and I should be into it but it's all boring safe cookie cutter shit I can't get my fannish brain excited about. Maybe I'm just old and grumpy.

Thank you so much to all the nonnies recommending angsty baseball fic to me in the last post! I read a few and really liked them. After a while I had to take a break though, it felt a bit "when will happy endings return from the war?" lol

Yay, I'm glad those worked for you. Baseball rpf really is all about the unhappy ending - heck, most of the newer stuff is still bittersweet. I think it's the nature of baseball, though.

Pls link to that post, I wanna read the fic even if I don't understand anything about baseball lol.

I did go through a stage of reading baseball fic a looong, looooooooong time ago, like it feels like ten years ago. Does anyone remember a super long Andy Pettite/Roger Clemens fic (this is a clue that it was a long, long time ago lol)? Where someone got hit in the head and had a coma? And maybe someone cheated on someone else? I remember really liking it even if I had no idea who these people where and what was happening.

NA I noped out of Hamilton once I realized it was literally just a transplant of Les Mis fandom writing modern AUs for American revolutionaries rather than French revolutionaries.

I am tempted to give MCU a try agan, what with Civil War and Apocalypse.

I hate modern AUs with a burning passion and avoided Les Mis despite loving the musical as a teen, so...yeah. Let me guess, Theodosia/Phillip bakery AUs?

Hopeless pedant here, but Apocalypse isn't part of the MCU. The X-Men movie franchise is all Fox.

I read a few things, but nothing really knocked my socks off. People seemed kinda into feminizing Hamilton, and I get that RL Hamilton was described as somewhat feminine, but I didn't really get that vibe from the musical. As far as actually being an active participant in Hamilton fandom ... that seems like it could be stressful.

Wow, did I not expect this to turn into wank, but it did. The fandom is currently having issues where a small subset of fans are ship warring Lams vs. Whamilton by calling the Whamilton shippers members of the Klan, pedos, and saying they should be shot. FFA's been tracking it pretty closely. Like, regardless of the historicity of the show, casting politics, or differences in characterization interpretation, I don't really want to engage with that kind of bullshit.

As someone who follows multiple sports and sports rpf fandoms (like 8 or 9 different ones), I'd love for baseball and some of the other sports rpf fandoms outside of the "big" ones (eg, hockey, football, tennis) to take off and become more active.

I really wish there was some sort of sports rpf fanwork exchange (maybe something like the sports equivalent of spaceswap, which would allow sports rpf/sports-related canons/crossover sports ships), but I don't think one exists.

I'm kind of hoping the latest Marvel fuckery will send some BNFs out in search of new fandoms, because there are at least a few shows going right now that would definitely have a fandom presence if they had a BNF or two to kickstart them.
