I feel like those hateboners are for the people writing Sid/Claude, not for the pairing itself. People seem to like or want to like the pairing, but can't stand downjune, constant wrist mentions, twitcrew, etc.

Re: Fandom Venting

From: (Anonymous)
AYRT - I think that there is a range of expression with in the discussion about Sid/Claude some of it is people who like the pairing and have issues with the specific fic or overdone wrists.

Some of it doesn't come across that way, at least to me.

That part KILLED me. There's not a lot of art in how the boy talks, but he makes his point :)

DA

The Superstition series is probably one of my all time favorite fics.

SPAG question.

"Claude's lucky for someone who has been bit."

It should be bitten vs bit. Right??

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
In my dialect we'd say bit, but to be grammatically correct it's bitten.

Original nonnie.

I like you Todd. But I don't know wtf this means.

"Todd McLellan said the players told us physically — not verbally — that Connor McDavid should be the captain."

They follow his lead on the ice. Uh huh. Why don't they just admit they're trying to sell the kid. I know he'll be the face of the NHL just tired of it getting shove in my face.

They measured the size of the whole team's intangibles.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
They didn't have to say anything, he could divine it from their ~body language~.

A player vote would have been one thing but all this projecting is making me uncomfortable, Todd.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
I guess he forgot "he is their natural leader, he leads them already, he loves to lead" thing the Oilers have been pushing. Weird answer but pretty honest.

SA

And now I reaaaaally want to know what the Americans on the team think

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
Unless he means that the players literally pointed at McDavid when asked who they thought should be captain, that's bullshit.

Re: Fic Discussion

From: (Anonymous)
"Bitten" feels more grammatically correct, but I'm pretty sure conversationally I've used "bit" like that before. It doesn't stand out to me as unusual usage at least.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
Meeeee tooooo. I might be reading too much into it but it seems from Team NA's social media that the two groups aren't really mixing much? I would die though if they asked one of the Americans what they thought of McCaptain and they just went "you know, Brandon Saad is a great guy".

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
A couple of them seemed to be (Schiefele, Mackinnon) in some of what Seth Jones posted, but yeah. I would imagine the all-Canadian leadership is frustrating, I would find it frustrating as an American, but I'm sure they'll toe the party line.

But seriously. Hoping for someone to be like "well, Saad's got two Cup rings..." or, "you know, Trouba was a great captain back in juniors" or whatever even if it would never

Call me bitter McDavid ice time is more like a D than and F.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
One thing I DEFINITELY noticed is that McDavid doesn't appear to be branching out- in all the pictures I saw he's with Ekblad/Reilly/some other Canadian from the GTA. Obv social media isn't the whole story on this, but it is interesting to notice that they don't even seem to be pretending, like "look at McDavid and Eichel hanging out!! our team is so united!!". They don't even care enough to fake it, lol.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
I wonder if skills is enough keep them going. This is a team game and not working together may be there undoing.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

From: (Anonymous)
I want to know how Ekblad managed to get more ice time than Jones despite sitting in the box for four minutes.

AYRT

you asked for the difference between Sid/Nate and Sid/Claude and my answer was, all the things pointed out about Sid/Nate upthread (which obviously don't apply to Claude at all)

Yes, exactly.

I don't know why you're still confused about this, but I haven't missed anything. I followed the conversation fine. I can agree with the person who thinks Sid/Claude is treated differently and want to discuss why that is without wanting to discuss the reason they brought it up. I don't need you to link every comment you ever made, and I don't blame you for your mistake. It's not me who keeps accusing you of things like "making snide remarks" and so on. It's the other way around. I'm more than satisfied that you wouldn't have made that same comment if you hadn't conflated me and the other anon.

I just want to talk about why Sid/Claude and Sid/Nate are different from each other. If you don't want to discuss that then you don't have to, a point which I've already made once before.

Re: World Cup of Hockey

IDK, there were flashes of chemistry between some linemates. Gaudreau and Saad seemed a good match and MacKinnon and Nugent-Hopkins read each other well. The whole third line seemed cohesive enough.

Drouin seemed like he was on his own planet though. The D pairings were unremarkable except that Trouba was a disaster.
