I'm not surprised either, but this one's almost worse imo because Domi the Canadian can't even vote in this election.

Neal is also Canadian? He's the one who kicked off this meme's rounding up of Trump supporters.

But while I'm here, I should say that Ryan Whitney, Hal Gill, Ryan Suter, Mike Fisher & Bobby Ryan demonstrably all have conservative politics and if they're American - tbh I don't know if any but Ryan are off the top of my head, and I am too lazy to check - then I assume they're all voting Trump.

I'll add fandom darling Brent Burns to your list.

Ah missed that post about Neal.

I do wonder if "conservative" and "Trump voter" can really be equated, though. I know a lot of religious conservatives who are just planning on staying home on election day because they won't vote Dem but they hate Trump.

People I know who were supporting Jeb or Rubio are also planning not to vote, or just vote in Senate/House races.

I feel like traditional conservatives who really think and feel deeply about their politics might ~vote their conscience or not turn out for Trump. But I think most people who have typically voted Republican in the past will vote for Trump, just because. And then there are those conservatives who were always more on the bigotry side of things anyway. Ryan Whitney, for example, was a dick about BLM early last year, over something like their protests blocking traffic iirc.

I wish that real-life Ryan Suter more closely resembled the romanticized Ryan Suter that lives in my brain.

You can also add the Oshie family to Trump supporters.

So far none of the names are people I care about in Fandom.

I mostly just really do not give a fuck about the alleged political leanings of people I don't know if they aren't spewing predjudice across social media. I'm way too busy to care about Instagram likes.

For Domi, it was just the Instagram like, but for most of the other people mentioned, their political leanings (not alleged) have become known because they have publicly expressed or supported bigoted sentiments. If we were just to list hockey players who've liked or followed Trump et al on social media, it would be a much longer list.

I'm also sure there are people who follow Trump because they think he's funny. Which is still dangerous in its own way, but.

Knowing where a players political views won't make me hate them, it just makes me indifference to them. Not following them is what I'm going to do. My opinion isn't going to matter and I don't expect it to with regards to the players/fans.

For real? Ugh that takes the shine off.

Why is it worse? I'm thinking "well, whatever, he can't vote for Trump anyway"
