na

I wish Allen!nonnie would identify themselves at the top of their comment, because I was very confused until I got to the bottom :(

I'd just like some context. Why is it expected that their big names would be gone? Why is she happy the one guy stayed?

Yeah, I don't actually know who any of these people are so if I was interested in learning more about the Allen Americans other than how much the popcorn and soda will cost at their big event some context might be helpful. I enjoyed Allen nonnie's playoff updates because it was clear who they were and what was happening and it was a fun distraction from NHL stress, but those comments alone didn't give me enough knowledge to understand the comment in this thread.

Allen nonny:

Several things. Sometimes I want to just hash out my feelings, and I will gladly elaborate when asked. I figure most of you will scroll but it's a slow month. I try to not write walls of text.

(I kept this bland and neutral because I am still ??? At how two sentences I posted about Hildebrand turned into a small thread of passive aggressiveness.)

That being said, the actual Americans update blog is great and informative.

But

At the end of every ECHL season, there are always lots of guys going to Europe to play in France or the UK (maybe I should go talk to EIHL nonny sometime) or Germany. This is for obvious reasons.

Often, the coach has to activately court the players. Oh, wait, that's the GM's job, but it's the same thing down here. Our GM is our coach and part time bus driver. He's looking for defensemen right now.

They won a Cup here, yeah, but Arseneau, for example, signed with the Thunder because his buddy played there. He was a fan favorite.

You just can't keep key pieces; the pay, the lack of recognition, the slight some guys might feel at not getting a qualifying offer. It's a business. I expect AHL guys, some college guys, and a few Europeans to flux in.

The team is also some weird sales nebulous blob right now. There was a group looking to buy but they backed off, and the owners afaik, still want to sell. That has some impact, too, for the guys who want a more stable position.

The ECHL recently went through realignment, for divisional issues. I am cranky about that. They chopped down the number of divisions to four, but being in this division is weird. It was supposed to help cut down travel costs, but I am not happy with how it shook out. Looks like we drew the short straw alongside the Missouri Mavericks in being in a division to even out the numbers.

At least they don't have to go to Alaska.

They also changed the icing rule to no substitutions and no timeouts in this league.

Also. I am a they.

I like JP LaFontaine for entirely superficial reasons like how the announcer says his name and some YouTube Q&As. He plays alright and is a steady line guy. I am clinging to guys I know.

Also, in NHL/AHL related news, the Shark's signed signed Aaron Dell, who is a goalie, and I think has a good shot at getting the Shark's backup spot. I think he gets a cup of coffee and plays his heart out. I liked him while he was here.

"I try not to post walls of text"

...

Seriously, consider journaling.

FFS. I'm not that nonny but someone asked them for more info. The content is relevant to the thread.

Is your scroll button broken? I don't give a single shit about any Pen's cup day but I just scroll past those walls of text.

At least you can tell by the first line of pens cup day wall o' text and duplicate links nonnie's comment that that's what it is.

You can also tell it's the Allen nonny literally by the first line of their post...

Do you have some special secret version of their post that only appears on your computer?

Parent up.

It is literally the parent comment of this entire melodrama.

But it's not the comment that's being discussed. You might as well link to the thread OP.

Did the comment that *is* being discussed have "Allen nonny" in the first line? Yes, it did. Claiming it didn't the first time might be considered a mistake. To keep on like this is a bizarre and special lie.

(frozen comment) Re: What's up with Your Team: It's August Edition

Na

Allen nonny might have seen the nonny who wanted them to identify at the beginning and changed to be accommodating. Since, you know, asking works.

Or not. They've always been sporadic.

I think anyone who can't handle seeing other people talk about their teams should not be hanging out in a multi-team space. They certainly shouldn't be policing other people talking their teams, ffs.

They're just an asshole, and all these comments where they try to justify themselves only make them more like a child who can't handle people talking about things they don't care about for even one comment.

(frozen comment) Re: What's up with Your Team: It's August Edition

(Anonymous) 2016-08-12 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
So bent out of shape defending a few poorly written updates about a bush league team with no to minimal interest on meme- which, as far as I can tell, isn't really how anyone else uses this thread. But, hey, if being the righteous angry anon is what gets you out of bed in the morning...

Re: What's up with Your Team: It's August Edition

(Anonymous) 2016-08-12 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone on meme thinks everyone else is the angry anon. We need a team-building exercise or something.

DA I vote for going out for ice cream rather than anything involving ziplines.

Probably the rock carrying exercise is out, also.

I like ice cream.

I'm way happier being the cheerful welcoming anon, honestly. I just call assholes when I see them. Which you are. Accusing other people of being angry in response to your assholery doesn't magically make it not assholery, fyi.

(frozen comment) Re: What's up with Your Team: It's August Edition

(Anonymous) 2016-08-12 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, anon. You love being cheerful and welcoming. That's why you and everyone else pays more attention to ~assholes~ and the relative distance of AHL teams to Pennsylvania than the Allen Americans. Really proving me wrong, here.
