I am weirdly surprised. Mostly because everything I've heard about the Rangers future is that it's not that bright??

Nah, it's better than a lot of people are giving credit for. Very strong forward corps and a stack of goalie prospects for once Lundqvist gets shaky, just poor defense. And if they jettison one of Girardi or Staal (buyout for the former in a year, trade for the latter) it'll get better fast.

Granted, I don't pay much attention to either team, but I've heard the Isles are more the team with looming stormclouds.

Because Tavares?? Or because they sort of in general seem like a ship without a rudder.

DA but I think some of their high picks are at risk of not panning out, ie Strome, and they have goalie issues.

Because they sign Andrew Ladd instead of retaining Kyle Okposo.
