#26 — Vanek! with a Jurco

This is the twenty-sixth post of Deke Dangle RPF Anon, a community for all your ice hockey anon meme needs.

THE RULES

I think, for casual US fans, though, they'd want to market American star players. When people tune in for the Olympics, casual fans will watch the US.

The Olympics is only once every four years, though (and the NHL isn't even guaranteed to be there), and besides, marketing American star players doesn't mean they can't market McDavid, too. It would have been smart to include at least a couple of Edmonton games against teams with more established markets. Pens vs Oilers this year is going to have the first ever Crosby-McDavid match up, for example, and while that might make a lot of fandom roll their eyes, it's the kind of thing that has the potential to get casual fans interested in hockey, more than seeing declining or rebuilding teams with large-ish loyal fanbases slog it out.
