Since it's been a slow day, how about a roll call to get some chatter going? Answer as many or as few as you want.

1) I read “Heart in Hand” out of curiosity a long time ago when I saw people talking about an RPF fic that had become so popular on Goodreads (with thousands of reviews), the much-chagrined author had reposted it with names F&R’d to generic ones for people to link to and locked the RPF version on AO3. I liked it okay. Then someone recced me “King and Lionheart” when I was asking for Arranged Marriage fics and I gave it a shot, still knowing nothing about the characters or hockey. I loved it quite a bit. Then I went on a binge of Soulmate fics in all my fandoms, current and old. The AO3 filters alerted me that there were quite a few with that trope in this fandom. I remembered liking the two fics I’d read before and decided to check them out and the more I read the more interested I got in the fandom.

2) I started reading a lot of systems and analytics articles and got to a point where I couldn’t understand what was being discussed. I thought watching a game or two might help me to picture certain things. I watched a game and was hooked. Sadly, it was during the playoffs, and I didn’t realize that games aren’t usually at that level. But somehow I remained hooked, even once I’d seen some regular season games.

3) Heard about meme in the beginning and have been coming since the first post.

6) My interest in the World Cup of Hockey is waning, not increasing, the closer we get to it. I don’t know why.

6 I want a team Europe/ team NA final just because it'd be funny. Other than that i'm pretty meh on it.

I'm cheering for team NA for the lol factor. (Also the pretty D-guys: Ghost, Parayko, iirc Seth Jones....)

hah, i got into hockey rpf through soulmate/soulbond AUs too.

I am so anti-World Cup it isn't even funny. Just give my players a few more weeks to rest, please.

I am too and have been from the start. It's little more than an NHL cash grab, and if any of my teams' players get injured (either at the World cup or later in the season due to fatigue) I'll be very upset.

NA Same. Plus as a European nonnie I'm still mad about this team Europe bs...

I'm torn between hating everything about the World Cup and the temptation of watching hockey a month earlier.

1) How’d you get into Hockey RPF? It's something I've been dipping my toe in and out of since 2011 with that Sid/Ovi fic. Then I'd forget about it and something would remind me and I'd go back and read more.

2) How’d you get into hockey? I was into it as a kid/teen because everyone was. (I grew up in a market that isliterally 50% Leafs/50% Wings fans) As an adult, I got into via women's hockey at the Sochi Olympics, and then back into the NHL via Check Please and the fact that CWHL doesn't play as many games.

3) How long have you been coming to meme/how did you find it? Since maybe October? I found meme through the Sin Bin

4) Current Fave Team? Stars

5) Backup Fave Team? Hurricanes/Lightning

6) Anything else you want to add? Even in that 8ish year period of my life when I wasn't a hockey fan I still liked Sidney Crosby because he's only 6 months older than me, and I have an ex who I'm sure had a crush on him. I remember being absolutely worried about him during his concussion. Worried what it would be like to be potentially facing the end of a career at our age, and worried that teh hockey world was going to miss out on the best player. ( I went to a hockey fan high school and several of my teachers were coaches and they always talked highly of Crosby in the lock out year when he was still in Juniors)

I love that the sin bin is getting active enough that people are finding meme through it.

1) How’d you get into Hockey RPF? You'd think it was CP!, but nope, you'd be wrong. As with most of my fandoms, it was the fanfiction. I read a couple of highly recommended non-hockey AUs (I'd seen several of my faves talking about them), which expanded my horizons enough that I could be enticed into anything tagged identity porn within the fandom. And when I finished the last of those, I was in the fandom.

2) How’d you get into hockey? ... I love physics? Well, no, I absorbed the offsides rule thanks to another fandom (don't ask) and I have been conditioned since middle school to enjoy watching any kind of sport, pretty much regardless of who's playing. Hockey has more speed and more physics than American football, and apparently, that's all I ever wanted from a sport.

3) How long have you been coming to meme/how did you find it? someone asked if I was the anon from the meme, and I had no idea what they were talking about -- naturally, I had to find out.

4) Current Fave Team? Capitals! We visit family in DC pretty often, but otherwise I've never in my life been in a city with a hockey team, so that's the natural choice, really.

5) Backup Fave Team? If the Caps aren't playing, I'll watch any women's hockey game, tbh.

6) Anything else you want to add? Everyone I know IRL seems to think "Can and will complain about Kris Letang the entire sixty minutes" means that I'm a Pens fan??? Which. No. Just no.

I hope you're not under the impression that everybody here looooves omgcp and is into hockey rpf because of it, lol. You're in for a bit of a rude awakening next time it comes up.

I was into baseball RPF when it was a Big Thing and decided to one day see if there was any hockey RPF as well. Something like eight or nine years later, my dumb ass is still here.

2) How’d you get into hockey?

I don't know. I've been a hockey fan as long as I can remember.

3) How long have you been coming to meme/how did you find it?

So long...it's been eighty-four years... (Actually, in all honesty, since the first post -- I found old meme right around the time it got locked down. I've seen and/or participated in basically every wank this meme has had. I've even unintentionally started one!)

4) Current Fave Team?

Stars. I'm from Texas.

5) Backup Fave Team?

I honestly do not have one.

6) Anything else you want to add?

Fandom has been so dead lately it has me poking at the half-finished fics in my documents folder in hopes of possibly being able to finish something. Seems like a weird reaction, but here we are.

Good luck with your half-finished fic! Maybe I should do the same. I can't believe how slow fandom has been. I heard part of a Vincent Trochek interview on the radio yesterday, where all I heard was him getting asked about Spacey in Space and he reiterated that he doesn't think any member of the team now or in the future (including traded ones like Gudbranson) will ever reveal the meaning behind it, and I wondered if that was meme-post worthy, just so there'd be something to talk about.

1) I'm not. I do read original hockey fic though and occasionally read gen fics.

2) my cousins played youth hockey and I also had a pen pal who wanted to trade hockey cards. This was back in 1988-89. I came back when hockey became the thing that ate fandom, and also the thing that took over break room discussion at work.

3) I'm from ffa and came over here when hockey the sport was made just as unwelcome as hockey the fic.

4) Minnesota Wild, the team with no RPF fandom. I admit to being casual af and mainly watch because I seem to have locked on to Devan Dubnyk as my fandom woobie. I love it when he complains about not getting run support.

5) Nashville Predators, because I am in Brewers fandom, the Predators AHL affiliate is in Milwaukee and everyone I know who is not into the NBA is into the Ads for some reason. Gotta love a team named after refrigerators.

6) were some of you looking for me later in the season this year? I saw a comment needing the Brewers minor league nonny from ffa but I haven't been meming much in 2016.

what happened on ffa? I only go there very rarely (and found deke through the kink meme) so I have no idea

Just heavily implying that hockey has its own meme so discussion needed to go over here now and never there, unless it's drama reports (and even then not so much)
