I haven't been able to really sit down and watch the games anything more than casually, and it's impossible to wade through the bias/narrative about how players on Team NA are performing. Apparently only McDavid, Matthews, and Reilly are any good.

The announcers are especially obnoxious about it. I'd probably like McDavid a lot more if they stopped fellating him for five seconds.

He can't seem to score though, it's funny at this point.

I take back everything I ever said about wishing they'd give some of his ice time to someone who had scored more points if he would use some of his McJesus powers to score some points and for Team NA to win this game though.

RNH, MacKinnon and Gaudreau have been good too.

Gaudreau has been the best forward this game and it's not close, I don't think.

He's been amazing

Not just this game.

Jeffler said something about him being as good as Matthews and it's like, nah, he's just been this good this whole tournament.

I don't watch the Flames but I'm a BC nonnie, and am really enjoying how many people are "discovering" him in this tournament. He's really fucking good (and fun to watch), guys!

I assume they're all eastern conference fans or something.

Must be, it's just funny how many people are like "wait Gaudreau isn't just a 23 year old who looks 12, he's actually good????" HE'S AMAZING, RESPECT HIM!!!

Does anyone know if there is anything "objectionable" about him I should know before I start stanning him big time?

I heard he did a lot of coke at BC but that's kind of the norm, isn't it? I can't #confirm it first hand, though. Other than that, not that I know of.

He's a very big fan of Patrick Kane, fwiw to you. No qualms praising Kane when the allegations were still very much on people's minds. Probably doesn't differentiate him from nearly every other NHLer, though.

The announcers have compared him to Kane all the fucking tournament and it drives me crazy for multiple reasons.

DA but if that was grounds for not liking somebody I would have to stop loving every "undersized" guy who entered the league after him. They all look up to him as a huge role model :/ I can't stand Kane, but I just choose to pretend they're only praising his hockey and not anything else.

Yeah, that's why I said it doesn't really differentiate him from other players. It's not even just the undersized ones, though they might have cause to like him more/talk about him more often. But for some people, that still is grounds for not liking someone, even if it isn't for you. It's just information.

problematic favs, johnny gaudreau edition:

- doesn't eat vegetables
- can't even tell the difference between an eggplant and a plum
- once added so much nutella to his diet (to gain weight) that he became constipated
- deceitful: looks twelve, is actually thirteen
- trademarked his nickname
- didn't set his stick on fire during the asg

Not his fault. He was told he wasn't allowed to. Besides, being Voracek's child was better.
