From: (Anonymous)but yeah, i strongly dislike "my smol son"-type shit, and in most cases "mijo" for matthews is going to annoy me even more. it creeps me out in ways i can't articulate.

From: (Anonymous)As someone who is half Latinx, I definitely haven't felt more comfortable in fandom since Matthews got drafted. At least the white people in my life know they're annoying the shit out of me when they do this type of stuff "ironically". This weird, earnest racial ally stuff has been... interesting. Incredibly irritating, when I see people blatantly ignore being told (politely, calmly, by people who are way more patient than I am) why the way they talk about him comes across so poorly.
I also can't quite explain what about this phenomenon bothers me so much. The closest I figured is that I just really, really don't like the objectifican that's, like, fundamental in fic fandom when it comes to minority players.
