How on earth do you make friends as an adult? The final one of my super close friends is moving several states away (as have the others) with very little possibility of returning (as with most of the others). I have a few so-so friends who will remain in my area after this final BFF departure but I'm not super interested in pursuing like a deeper friendship with them and would kind of like to meet a new crop of people -- but how??????? I literally don't know. I'm intensely private and pretty shy which is why I've relied on the friends I've had for years and years so deeply for so long. I'm just, like, So Very Lonely. Like, I sometimes lay awake at night and cry because I feel so isolated and insular, even though it is pretty much my fault because this is the life I've built for myself. Does anyone actually have any positive experiences of joining groups solo and making friends that way? I feel like that's always everyone's advice but it seems super not likely.
