Hi nonnie!! I asked a counselor this question because I was feeling the in between college and "grown up" life struggle and missing the built in people my age forced socialization that college provided. And he said. I shit you not. "The next time you'll have that sort of opportunity is when you have kids." And I thought. "Well I'm going to die alone aren't I."
Without kids I've made some friends but it's been a challenge and I haven't made any great friends either. The spouse of a coworker and I hang out once a month and watch trashy TV, a couple of people who live in my greater metro area that I met on twitter who also like hockey (full disclosure we went out to dinner once and are now just twitter friends again), I took a yoga class and met people but it never went beyond class.
So I have no great advice. I'm in the same boat (except I'm the one who moved away and left all the friends - it's lonely over here too) and I'm sure there's more of us. Maybe we need a support group :)
