All of this, plus, before the rape accusations large sections of fandom (not just Hawks fans, Kane and K/T were very broadly popular) were hostile to fans who disliked Kane, and really deaf/unreceptive to any criticism of him (for the cabbie thing, choking thing, etc.). Meanwhile Hawks fans (and by extension a lot of the rest of fandom) acted like the fact of being a Kings fan was a moral crime because of how the team handled Doughty and Voynov; this vitriol was quite obviously driven by on-ice rivalry (Voynov was arrested shortly after the Kings beat the Hawks in the WCF and went on to win the cup). And then for these same fans to turn around and act the way they did when it was Kane was accused... the hypocrisy of it was really the icing on the cake of insufferability.
