I'm not the one who nommed him, but I can understand. Not everyone just wants to write about the highest point getters. Yeah, he's overpaid as a player, but he's got a collection of trivia and personality qualities that make him stand out from other Caps for fic writing/reading.

Plus, one of my favorite Caps stories is that Ovechkin/Brooks one where he is all depressed because he's having trouble transforming into an Eagle instead of a Penguin, and it turns out his eyes (face? head?) had started transforming correctly, but because he was looking down at his body, he hadn't realized.
