The snippet she posted on tumblr awhile ago is probably still my favorite part, but I appreciate her expanding her horizons a bit.

I liked this, I wished Lawson had more of a personality though, and I think there could have been more angst about being gay on Dylan's end. He kind of seemed to just accept it.

I agree the emotional/personal aspects could have used some bulking up, but I also read it as Dylan maybe not seeing it as a full-on gay relationship instead of a transgression he's getting away with. The threat of losing Lawson kicked things forward a few steps quickly, and I think there'd probably be some panic once the dust settles, but, well, hockey fandom, endings, etc.

That makes sense, I just thought it wasn't fully articulated. He tells Lawson he's worried about coming out to his friends and family during their final convo, but before that it doesn't even appear to cross his mind. This is one of those fics where it seems like the non-POV character might have a more interesting inner life than the one we actually get to see, lol. Although I do think being emotionally clueless and kind of dumb in general is a pretty spot on Dylan characterization, so I cant' really fault her for it.

i liked it, but i am ridiculously easy for trope subversion so anything that hits that narrative kink and is otherwise readable will generally at least get a kudos from me.

i would have *liked* to see what lawson's thinking about through a lot of it, though, and although this fandom has turned bros actually using their words into a narrative kink for me i'm not sure whether *this* dylan would have actually laid it on the line verbally the way he does at the end.
