Um. Surely you have a trashy Tumblr that no one cares about to post this on?

Shit, I'm a Pens fan, and that made me cringe so hard I couldn't finish reading. What even is the point of this fake-friendly "not smack talk"? Smack talk is a normal part of sports fandom (although not appropriate for AO3) but whatever the condescending fuck this is makes no sense to me. I hate the Caps but I'm annoyed.

Everything you just said. Everything about it makes me so happy because it's exactly how I felt.

I want to murder people that put things on AO3 that don't belong there. Ship manifestos, fandom analysis, "why you should like my problematic fave" shitposts, etc. I even hate chatfic tbh (I guess it probably does belong on there but I don't care, I hate it). This isn't just limited to hockey fandom, I see it in other places I dabble into and it's the most annoying thing.

NA I actually rather enjoy ship manifestos, as they seem to be harder to come by and there's no real centralized place to find them these days. But I sympathize with people who come to ao3 only for the fic. It'd be nice if they're were a separate fandom meta category, but if it'll be full of stuff like what was just linked, I don't know that I'd even spend much time in it.

If it's a fic, a vid, or art: put it on/link it to AO3

If it's not, but it's a prompt challenge: that's what Collections are for, go use that

If it's not any of those things: NO

The AO3 rules actually permit meta so even though you don't like it, it's not technically doing anything wrong

However--in hockey RPF, it's hard to tell "fandom meta" from your typical sports journalism "hot take."

It's almost enough to make me hope he refuses to waive his ntc and they have to give him expansion draft protection.

If he refuses to waive, surely they'd buy him out before letting it come to that.

Iirc, you can't just randomly buy out a player. There are specific windows of time during the year where you can do that and the first one isn't until after the expansion draft.

I hadn't realized the expansion draft was so soon, but I see it begins June 18th and the buyout window always begins either June 15th or 48 hours after the cup is awarded, whichever is later. Is the start of the window getting exceptionally pushed back this year to accommodate the expansion draft?

...oh no, and I'd really enjoyed some of their past fic, too. How tasteless.

Yuck. Although this is also someone who congratulated an author because the fic they wrote showed a healthy romantic relationship and therefore was "good for people's mental health," so I'm not really surprised tbh. I guess they're a drama llama all around.

Yeah he has an Upgruv column he can post this to. Not sure about a tumblr
