Re: What's Up With Your Team? - Playoffs, Here We Come
(Anonymous) 2017-05-21 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)I'm queer and tend to agree with "should have gotten a game suspension not just a fine". Because yeah, I don't think what he said was quite as bad slur-wise as what Shaw said, but it *is* imo a homophobic slur and he shouldn't get punished less just BECAUSE IT'S THE CUP time (or because he's a captain/notably more well-known for his hockey skills than Shaw.)
(Getzlaf should maybe have talked to either BizNasty or whoever wrote/assisted with writing his apology/cutting ties statement when Sauce Hockey royally fucked up with a "Cindy Crosby" meme that was frighteningly impressive in how many isms it managed to invoke. Links have more details, obvious cw's here.)

Re: What's Up With Your Team? - Playoffs, Here We Come
(Anonymous) 2017-05-21 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)I think I wasn't fully convinced that it needed a suspension (since relative to Shaw it's not as bad) until I saw his response. Players like him clearly won't even try to learn how they fucked up if there's not a strong enough disincentive to this kind of behavior.
