#29 – Lay, Lie, or Laine?

This is the twenty-ninth post of Deke Dangle RPF Anon, a community for all your ice hockey anon meme needs.

THE RULES

I agree. And at least the Preds had a goal overturned on a fairly black and white rule. The Pens had a goal overturned on goalie interference, which both the refs and Toronto seem to know fuck all what to do with.

DA goalie interference seems particularly all over the map this playoffs.

Yeah, the goalie interference calls this season have varied so wildly that probably any team that gets a goal overturned for goalie interference will feel aggrieved about it, and have a right to feel that way. The inconsistency defeats the point of video review challenges in the first place. It's supposed to make people feel better about the accuracy of calls, not worse, lol.

I just don't understand how people who complain about the offside challenge want to make it better. Yep. It's tedious. We all agree. But if they aren't calling it "by the book" what's the alternative? No offside? Something more vague like offside is ok as long as it isn't egregious?? When it comes down to actually considering the alernstives I guess I'm in favor of offside calls going by the book. Shades of millimeters or not.
