They're really cute and the fact that Nolan interviewed with Montreal (?!) is making me nervous that my dreams of them playing near each other in the same division might not happen :( damn you, Marc Bergevin!!

Most teams do their due diligence and interview top prospects. I doubt Montreal manages to trade into the top 5, and I reallllllly doubt either of them fall below the top 3.

Yeah but this was more involved than that. He actually went to Montreal to meet with the team execs and doctors. The only other teams he visited in person were Philly and NJ.

I still doubt Montreal gets him. They would have to trade into the top 2, or trade for Dallas' pick and hope he falls to them. Stranger things have happened, true, but I can't imagine he doesn't go to either NJ or Philly.

I don't think them being able to trade their pick plus, say, Galchenyuk would be that outlandish.

yeah, I think if Bergevin really wants to he'll be able to pull it off. He'll just end up overpaying for a player with a relatively low ceiling. I don't think Shero is going to get fleeced.

Oh dear God. What if they did trade for Dallas's pick? ~That's all we need is Montreal giving up something good like Galchenyuk to Dallas.~

While we're speculating, can Montreal give Galchenyuk to Philly or NJ instead? I like the guy and have no real rooting interests in the Metro, so that would be a lot more fun for me.

Stars fan. Would do backflips of joy of this happened.

If they're looking at Hischier, Dallas isn't going to cut it. I don't see why they'd bother for someone like Vildardi or Mittelstadt.

Well now somebody's saying that he's only going to Montreal to talk to sponsors, so this all might just be blown out of proportion. (what a surprise, from the MTL media? never heard that one before)

So looking back Nolan/Nico seems more friendly than Matthews/Laine who were still pretty friendly with each other (the in-joke they had about Perry or something during an interview), and then you have McDavid/Eichel who always seemed a bit strained around each other.
Like obviously you see only five minutes of footage and you can't really know how those guys really interact but the differences are fun to tinhat about.
Someone put it better in word by saying that this year they managed to be Nolan Patrick AND Nico Hischier instead of OR. Maybe the medias are less inclinted to put a rivalry between two guy that will be good but not of generational talent level.

Yeah, I think the expectations for both of them are lower. Top six players, but I know with Patrick the expectation seems to be a 2C, 1C if he's lucky.
