This is what I'm currently doing. In fact, I'm mostly annoyed with other Pens fans trying to argue our side but doing it the wrong way, like Shayme in that ONTD post. I wanted to make the ONTD post so I can enjoy it but I'm cringing at all her arguments to defend the Pens because it's obvious she has no idea what she's saying lol.

I had no idea there were so many people with opinions about hockey who still had LJ accounts. I guess ONTD is a universe unto itself, though.

I have no idea who these LJ people are. But I'm 3 comments in and I already have so much secondhand embarrassment for this shayme person I am actually cringing.

Oh my god, the way she keeps calling him Sidney is making me shudder.

Whenever I start to think he's kind of weird for being so intensely private about everything people like her remind me that he's probably making the best available choice here.

That shayme person is so embarrassing. The way she responds to every comment that doesn't praise Crosby is almost funny. "No, you're wrong, Sidney is the greatest player to ever live".

Shayme is a creepy 1D Larry truther who is dipping her toe into applying Larry logic to Sid/Geno. She knows nothing about hockey and she's only going to get worse and more vocal in your fandom from here.

I personally liked when she said Sid was better than Gretzky, and used him complimenting him as proof of this. Gretzky will compliment any halfway decent player it doesn't mean shit lol.

Oh man, I remember going into 1d posts on ONTD despite not knowing the band at all, just to read her weird logic.

I'd say mostly, yeah. I have to admit I'm fond of OEL/Boeds tinhatting, though!

Mostly, yes. Most tinhatting is along the lines of thinking certain players aren't straight more than thinking your OTP is together forever, amen, blah blah blah. (The OEL/Boedker mention by another anon is the closest people in hockey fandom get to "traditional" tinhatting, though.)

I still think that situation sounds like a bad breakup.

I know nothing about the Coyotes and not much more about the players involved. What's so shippy about them?

Yeah, mostly. She's a full, genuine tinhatter though, and right now, some of her previous comments at ONTD & other places read like she's busy in some sort of collection stage, collecting details to 'confirm' Sid/Geno is real.

She went scrambling when she asked someone on ONTD from Halifax for gossip on Crosby, and they told her that he'd fucked his way through Halifax's women all last summer. That didn't jibe with her mental picture of him at all, and she started spinning excuses and giving handwavey denials. She's going to get really publicly messy tinhatting Sid & Geno at some point, if her Larry days are any indication.

My favorite part of her Larry days was when she would find an excuse to talk about the "inside info" she had that confirmed that Larry was real but would abruptly disappear when anybody asked for deets or even who she knew that was an "insider".

... I have to admit, that doesn't really jibe with my mental picture of him, either! Not because I think he's gay, but he doesn't really seem like the sort who would be that into one night stands with strangers. But I don't suppose you have to have much game to pick up women in Canada if you are the best hockey player in the world.

I've heard stories for years that he prefers hooking up with married women, because they're less likely to go the media about him because they have something to lose if they do, and that's how he's kept his one night stands more private than other players. But winning a cup = breaking his usual pattern all over Halifax apparently haha! The poster got the story from her cop friend who does the Halifax nightclub beat, and saw him partying all summer.

Can't wait for her to go around claiming she knows someone who knows for a fact Crosby and Malkin are together, and will come out as a couple once they're not being controlled by the evil ~~Modest Management~~ Pens front office.
