Does anyone have recs for their favorite longish, mostly happy fics? I'm having a shitty month and I just wanna read lighthearted stuff that will keep me entertained for a while. Any pairing or team is fine (except PKane stuff).

I just want to say it's not Regency. It's early 20th century, probably Edwardian. Best part of a century later than Regency. Sorry to be pedantic but it's actually a really well researched AU with lots of correct period detail for its actual period.

Yeah, the AN says it's set in 1903. I suppose I associate "Regency" AUs more with a set of tropes than the actual time period, lol.

I... just remembered I started reading this last night after your rec, and I'm like halfway through and am still not at all sure whether I've read it before (I suppose I could guess based on my AO3 history, but eh. Maybe we'll find out when I try to kudos it!)

Like, it's solidly good and v. much enjoying it, but still weird for me.

2013 seems like ages ago, I can't believe this came out then. I still remember reading it lol.

When I'm feeling down, I usually reread my Jeff Skinner/Eric Staal favorites. Pretty much anything in the pairing tag, sorted by kudos, works as a pick-me-up. This one is my favorite though:

Mind you, it's a semi-AU, in that Eric Staal still plays for the Canes but Jeff never made it to the show due to an injury. There's a kid involved, though, but he's never the focus of the story.

It's kind of sad how dead that ship is nowadays.

Well, they've been playing for different teams for the last season and a half and E.Staal has a hundred kids or a similar number (not that this fact ever stopped the shippers). Another thing: if you want a Skinner ship, you can now easily go for other, easier options, like Skinner/Lindholm or Skinner/Landeskog. Or hell, even Skinner/Lindholm/Landeskog. After all, Lindholm & Landeskog had some super cute interactions at the Worlds.

Yeah, I know, I like the alternatives, too! (Even though there are like 15 fics. Total.) Just rereading old faves makes me nostalgic that there most likely won't be anything new.

It honestly makes me sad that Skinner/Lindholm isn't bigger. There's so much potential there!!
