Yeah I was really excited when I saw those stats but when I saw where they'd come from I deflated again. I would be interested in a kind of ideological survey across sports including questions like this with a larger sample size though. I think you'd need to ask at least a few people from every team - a sample size of 62 even if it was just for hockey would be on the lower end of acceptable.

I would be curious if the NHLPA collects any stats on its members opinions etc. to guide the association's actions/positions on things. I doubt they would tread into anything controversial like this though because it would only create PR problems if leaked.
