Yep. And despairing for Maripier Morin. Just dump the bastard already, he treats you like shit.

Yeah that relationship is a train wreck. I was so glad he didn't actually propose

Re: Hockey Wives

They both have the emotional maturity of a teenager (her breakdown over being gifted a watch, jfc), and it's. Not good.

People keep saying what an amazing friend Tiffany is, but from what I've seen her main hobbies are being rude to people and being annoyed, so. Her honesty can be entertaining to watch, but I could never be friends with someone like her. I love Kodette, Brijet, Noureen, and Nicole though. And everything Emilie says and does makes me roll my eyes. But that's probably because I'm an anti-military European.

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
I was cool until Emilie was like I can't live in Europe I'm an AMERICAN. I can understand her frustration though because whatever I think of her career, she obviously loved it and she gave it up for him.

I don't know if I'd say Tiffany is an "amazing friend" but I definitely think she's one of my favourites. She's blunt but I wouldn't say rude. Noureen is my other favourite. I love her relationship with Ryan Miller they seem really cute together. Nicole kinda ticks me off, though.

Aw, I liked Tiffany. I thought she was funny, and she seemed to suffer a bit from editing - I got the impression she's direct, reserved, and sort of prickly, but got edited to look bitchier than she actually is/was. And Brijet, who I found really lovely, really seems to like her, and I doubt she'd be close friends if Tiffany was as bitchy as she comes across.

I got heartily sick of Emilie by the end, but otoh I kind of wanted to smack her husband, too. Dude, she gave up her career for you and you want to drag her off to another continent because you can't let go of hockey? Get over yourself. Nicole made me pettily glad the Kings missed the playoffs. I go back and forth on Noureen - I admire her drive and passion for her career, but my god, she is so damn shallow. (Which she at least acknowledges, so there's that, but I wouldn't want to hang with her.)

I gave up on Tiffany in the episode where she took Kodette horseback riding and she gave a whole "I'm not like other girls" speech and ended it with "I'm certainly not afraid of horses like some people are" which was a not very subtle dig at Kodette. Stop taking yourself so seriously, jesus. After that episode she just started annoying me more and more, especially when her and Prust were ganging up on Maripier, because Tiffany gets so touchy when people make fun of her, so it seemed very hypocritical.

I can't figure out if Noureen's playing it up for the cameras or not, but I kind of think she is. She seems like she loves to shock people.

I think Tiffany and Maripier both pushed each other's boundaries quite a bit really. And neither of them seemed to notice how much they hurt the other most of the time, but they're still close. It happens.

The horse riding thing wasn't cool though.

I see your point, I forgot she did that and it was pretty mean. But on the whole I thought she was pretty funny, like the whole thing with promising Ray Whitney a threesome if he scored and then taking it back ("It's like butt sex; you promise it but you never do it"). She seems like she has some self-esteem issues going on, too, which maybe is where the meanness is coming from. I ended up liking her a lot more than I expected to.

But I will be that terrible person and say that Kodette bugged me more than Tiffany did. So many of her segments seemed to boil down to, oh, look at what a saint Kodette is, with her poor damaged child and her husband who's never there and her nobly staying in Calgary for the sake of her family. I know that a large part of that is editing and TV reality narrative (and a little bit of Calgary homerism; it's a great city of over a million people with a lot going on, stop framing it as though she's exiled herself to the abandoned Canadian wilds!) - I'm sure Kodette is a great person and she DOES have way more on her plate than the other women, but eh.

Does he really? :O There are gifs of her floating around tumblr where she looks pretty in-charge.

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
Ohh yeah, it's ugly. You know those teenage boys who make fun of their girlfriends so their buddies will think he's cool? That's Brandon Prust at 31.

From what we've seen, Maripier is incredibly sensitive, and she tries not to let the constant chirping get to her, but then in the voiceover she says things like "him making fun of my two-page spread in that magazine really hurt my feelings", instead of saying that to him. Not that he'd respond well to that.

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
That's so pathetic of him. Thanks for answering, anon!

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
I feel like there's this fandom perception of Maripier as "cool girlfriend" who would be okay with an open relationship and threesomes and from watching this show I have learned nothing could be further from the truth.

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
I'm disappointed that I can't ship Galchenyuk/Prust anymore because what I learned about him from this show made me dislike Prust so much.

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
Any hope of pretending that her dumping his ass would be a wakeup call for him to be a less terrible human?

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
There are definitely some storyline possibilities:

Prust and Morin break up, AGally becomes Prust's rebound despite everyone telling Alex it's a terrible idea, and either they break up and AGally is finally cured of his ill-advised crush and can find love elsewhere or Prust grows up and he and Alex miraculously have a healthy relationship.

Or Prust and Morin break up, Prust finally realizes that Alex had a crush on him and tries to pursue it, but Alex refuses to be his rebound and continues to refuse him until Prust grows up. Then Prust has to woo him properly.

Or Prust and Morin break up, Prust tries to sleep with AGally immediately afterwards, who finally realizes that Prust is a terrible human being and gets together with someone else, maybe BGally.

Ikr, me too. His face just inspires rage in me now.

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
na Do you think it could just be editing? Never watched hockey wives, so my only exposure to Prust/Maripier has been from gifsets on tumblr where they seem like a really cute and happy couple. Obviously that's the other side of the PR coin in terms of editing, but I gotta figure the truth is somewhere in the middle, maybe?

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
Did you read the episode summaries linked on meme? I don't see how that could just be editing.

Yeah he might still be an asshole, but reality shows aren't exactly real. They do often have to manufacture storylines to keep people watching. I can understand not really wanting more fic of him because of it though.

Re: Hockey Wives

From: (Anonymous)
sure, maybe when they're alone he's a very attentive and loving boyfriend, but i personally can't stand guys like that. especially because his being mean to her obviously upsets her! plus, tiffany parros and maripier had a discussion about how they fight all the time and marriage isn't going to magically change that, so it's definitely not just editing.
