Responsibility he feels towards the team as captain and public face? Would it affect ticket and merch sales (lotta talk late this season about the sellout streak being in danger)? Would it affect his Little Penguins program? Not wanting to cause distraction to team?

Hah, random fic idea - either after McDavid gets drafted or has successful first season and has just won the Calder, he gets a text message from Crosby "tag, you're it". Cue Crosby gone wild.

That fic idea is amazing.

Free to good home! I would love to read it.

As hilarious as it would be, I just don't buy Sid actually having much of a wild side. Although I'd love Sid going wild by his standards- being photographed with alcohol, taking his hands out if his pockets in pictures, wearing an unconventionally coloured suit- and feeling really pleased with himself :P

Yes, I almost continued with "sadly, nobody realises that Crosby has gone wild. A few people describe him as more relaxed or looser".

This is wonderful. I need fic of this so bad.

Me too! Alas, I am no writer.

Cause would Sid get mad that no one realises that he's gone wild, and try harder, but keep failing at it?

Well if that gossip post that went around Tumblr has any weight, he's had some drunken escapades. Just nothing that went too public or very embarrassing.

I'd be pretty surprised if there's more than a handful of players in the NHL who hasn't had at least some drunken escapades, if that. And that handful is probably considered really weird by their teammates.

I bet it's really hard to be a pro hockey player and not into drinking. And worse if you used to be a huge drinker but are now trying to be sober.

Yeah, just ask Daniel Carcillo.

I have to say I have a completely different view on him after having watched his video about Steve Montador.

I *think* meme had this article about Scott Darling and his social anxiety-related drinking issues in some thread already, but I found it interesting. Apparently he's comfortable enough in his own skin now to be okay with going out to bars with teammates and not drinking, but I would think it'd still feel at least a little weird being sober when your teammates aren't.

Yeah, I remember that post and there's really nothing there I would consider wild. Especially since I can only see drunk Sid in this way:

I knew what that pic was going to be before it opened and I was already laughing. Sidney Crosby goes wild on the egg nog.

That picture is so great, especially as sole evidence of The Scandalous Misdeeds of Drunk Sidney Crosby.
