do you mean hockey!tumblr or wider!tumblr? because nothing pisses off the super vocal sjw part of tumblr than athletes supremely screwing up in a way that goes beyond what they do on the field/court/pitch/ice/etc (and rightfully so, but that part of tumblr seems to hate sports anyway). if the story got out to them i'd imagine they'd make a huge fuss about it, because it's been covered up so much and fans who know don't like acknowledging it. the story has the power to be penn state-esque.

Uh. While Mario possibly being in the room while his roommate raped someone is pretty terrible, I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near the shitstorm level of a football coach actually being convicted of multiple counts of child sex abuse.

well obviously not on sandusky levels of terrible but in terms of paterno? it's comparable. both guys wield huge status and influence, both guys are revered in their institutions, both guys covered up some seriously terrible shit.
