Re: Random hockey things
From: (Anonymous)I don't agree with the 'actual hockey fan bs' either but you're acting like comments made on the radio exist in a vacuum. Commenting on the status of a superstar is very much the kind of thing it would be expected for Friedman to clarify in his column, it's not the same as 'any two sentences'. Part of the backlash stemmed from the fact that he just threw out this vaguely volatile statement on the radio with no elaboration.
Re: Random hockey things
From: (Anonymous)Saying that Twitter is full of people freaking out all the time wasn't intended to be a diss on the popularity of radio or Malkin's superstar status or whatever it is you think I said.
Re: Random hockey things
From: (Anonymous)And I'm saying that because of those factors (which you acknowledge) it's exactly the kind of thing people talk about and not a matter of twitter taking a harmless statement and blowing it out of porportion. I disagree with the idea that it wouldn't have gotten exposure without twitter 'feeaking out'. Comments like this on the radio often lead to articles/columns/blog posts. Radio has a lot of weight in hockey media and amongst a lot of hockey fans.
Re: Random hockey things
From: (Anonymous)If you think I was at any time claiming that radio interviews don't lead to articles/columns/blog posts or that radio is looked down upon in some way, you are reading way too much into what I said.
Re: Random hockey things
From: (Anonymous)You said: 'It was a radio interview he gave, so it wouldn't normally get much exposure'
I'm saying radio interviews tend to get a lot of exposure anyway in hockey, and especially so in this case because of the nature of the statement/tge source. I don't know how that is reading into anything and I'm not saying you're looking down on anything, just ignoring the fact that radio interviews aren't necessarily obscure and do in fact get exposure.
I honestly don't know what point you were trying to make if not that radio interviews usually get less exposure, and that is what I disagreed with.
