I feel like a lot of the older veterans matchmake and that's really a large secondary duty under getting the rookies acclimated.

NA I wonder if having a match/a few potential matches already in place for players coming over from the KHL/SHL would be a thing, too. Easier to get guys to come over that way, maybe.

Would this explain a team's habit or penchant for picking players from certain reasons? I feel like it would.

All I know is that I want a Nichushkin/Gurianov with this premise now. Because maybe that pick makes sense in this context (it makes sense otherwise, too, but everyone went "ooo...kay?" when it happened).

Now I want some older vet doing his best to set up an age-appropriate match for a rookie who's all "fuck that, *you're* the one I actually want".

(Also, under this system, Ovi and Nicky are totally married, right?)
