He still has his moments.

- Crosby hater who doesn't think you actually need a moral high ground to dislike someone in sports and that searching for one and using it to justify sports-related dislike is generally not great

I don't think you need a moral high ground (or even a real solid reason) to dislike someone in sports. I think haters will see what they want in order to hate that player anyway, so it doesn't really matter. It must be tough, though, to constantly have your reasons struck down or overwhelmed by everyone else's love.

Is this performance art? Your reasons don't get ~~struck down~~ when stans disagree with them. They don't disappear into the ether, leaving haters trembling with love that dare not speak its name. They continue to exist.

And you're acting like blind love/stanning for a player isn't also rooted in biases and affiliations and granfalloons. No one in this league is a perfect angel.

Also I hope like fuck that players I dislike don't all turn out to be rapists. That is not a moral high ground I want or need.

Plus all the ones. I'm quite happy just disliking players for their faces; i have no need or desire to have any sort of moral high ground about it.

I don't *want* to have a moral high ground for disliking any more players than I already do.

I'm with you. The "oh, poor Crosby haters who hate someone soooo perfect, it must be so hard for you" is patronizing as hell. I find him quite easily hateable without needing some moral high ground.

Yup.

And like I said elsewhere, I don't want to learn that Crosby is a rapist or an abuser or any other number of terrible and/or criminal things. That would be awful. I'd prefer to continue hating him for the reasons I already have.
