Not to kick off this whole wank again (god I've seen it so many times), but some (I don't think very many, but definitely some) podficcers feel that a podfic stands on its own as a creative derivative work as much as a written fic does, and so they feel that by podficcing it they've obtained some level of creative control, and are free to delete or not delete it as they please without consideration for the author's wishes. Which, honestly, I can kind of see if they've spent literally hundreds of hours creating and editing a quality podfic for a really long story.
