NA - What's an anti-kudos? Am I being dense by accident?

Someone wrote a script where you can "anti-kudos" stuff which can be seen by other people who have the script installed. It might do some other stuff, but I don't have it installed.

Ayrt. Ahh! Gotcha! As someone with fic on Ao3 I feel like this is something I should avoid haha

Re: general RPF fandom discussion

From: (Anonymous)
I cannot get it to install for me :(

Possibly silly point here, but these things are not always obvious, so - the anti-kudos script will only install on your browser if you already have the Greasemonkey (or similar script-manager thingy) installed first?

There's a script you can add to your browser that allows you to click an "anti-kudos" button that appears next to the "kudos" button. It doesn't record your username; the only thing you see is the number of people who have clicked the button. Only people who have installed the script can see it, so most people won't. It's more of a personal satisfaction thing.

I can't imagine installing that, because the paranoia to check my own fic (and resulting letdown) would be too great. Yikes.

A ayrt rt - same! I don't think I want to know what people think to that degree

DA

that's literally the first thing I did, lmao.

I was thinking the same thing. Even just seeing one anti-kudos would probably bother me. I'd want so badly to know *why*.

But you don't care why people give kudos? Even though people have said that when they click it, they might actually mean things like "I read this" or "Awww, you tried" or "Oh hey, you wrote something"?

I'm okay with all of those. With anti-kudos I'd be wondering if someone found something offensive in my fic, or if they just really hated the trope, or if there's some type lingering that no one told me about.

I'm kind of impressed with my abilitiy to literally have a typo on the word typo.

That is impressive! Woo, you! :D

Yeah, I'm good with all of those things. I just don't want to know how many people hate it.

I almost installed it yesterday but then I thought of that and yep. Bad idea.
