THE RULES

I was reminded by anon above that the reason we picked the last weekend in September originally was to get a sense of the preseason and any injuries/trades/etc that might affect our drafting lists. I feel silly for letting that issue, which was the determinant in picking that timetable, slip my mind.

I realize we're only talking about 3 or 4 days here, but it is possible that it could make a bigger difference in the health of some players (as well as showing how well players like Jamie Benn and Nicklas Backstrom have recovered from offseason surgeries) to see more of the preseason than it does in trade lead time.

I'm not ruling it out, but I think we need more input from other GMs in the league before deciding. I'm going to make a new subthread to ask about these issues (including whether we need a dry-run draft).
