THE RULES

It's pretty inherent in the word participation, since it's a community space. Even if you never leave a single kudos, you're still interacting with authors and artists via their works.

Reading fic, writing fic, and creating art are not inherently interactive.

You can write and create art and keep it on your hard drive forever, but the second you put it out there, you're interacting with fandom. You can sit on your hands at home thinking really hard about your ships, but you're not in fandom. Everything about fandom is interactive, especially consuming fic and art.
