Re: general RPF fandom discussion
From: (Anonymous)I think how you phrase things is important, yes. I don't think people should talk like those who don't want to read/write P.Kane can't separate rpf and real life, especially not using comparisons to fantastical fiction tropes. I don't think that's the issue. I, for one, could probably read P.Kane fic without constantly going RAPIST RAPIST RAPIST, but I don't want to, and I think there's a broader context in which all of this is operating. And if you actually want to have a discussion about something this sensitive, you probably shouldn't start off (mis)characterizing people who don't agree with you or who feel differently as not understanding that rpf Kane is fiction and fiction is not RL.
Re: general RPF fandom discussion
From: (Anonymous)+1. Of course how you phrase things matters, especially if the difference in phrasing is the difference between implying something that's true ("People who have differing amounts of distance on this issue may feel differently") and something that isn't ("People who are okay with people writing Kane are better at telling the difference between fiction and R than people who aren't okay with it.") Truth vs lie, neutrality vs accusation - how on earth does anyone think those things are the same "except for phrasing"? "Phrasing" is everything.
